Susan,
I strongly encourage staff to stop in a classroom and get the "real" experience first hand. You will learn something new!
Patty Aronoff
It's amazing how much you learn from the classroom experience that goes far beyond even what your Admissions training will give you. Professors really are so practical in their application of the opportunities for students in their training and career realities.
Barbara,
It is so much fun! I promise you will leave the classroom with a better understanding and you will learn something too.
Patty Aronoff
I will keep in touch with Directors of Education, Placement Coordinator and my ADOA. I also liked the idea of sitting on a classroom to get a better idea of what our prospect students will learn.
Sam,
You have a good plan in place. Make sure to communicate regarding any changes so that everyone is on the same page.
Patty Aronoff
What are your plans to add any missing information and to keep up-to-date with any changes made?
A monthly audit of marketing plans, institutional policies and rules, and a visit to FCIE website will allow me to discover any missing or updated information. In addition, speaking with faculty and other departments regularly will provide needed information for prospective students.
Vorick,
Meetings afford us the opportunity to discuss and outline changes. It gives people the platform to question and openly admit they don't fully understand. I make sure staff understands before leaving. No question left unanswered.
Patty Aronoff
Vorick,
You are very lucky in order to be able to talk to students frequently. It is amazing what you learn when you converse directly.
Patty Aronoff
Catalina,
It is important to be well informed and pass the information along. Emails are great, but meetings are opportunities to discuss and dissect.
Patty Aronoff
I do agree that meetings are important becaues it allows people to talk enough so leaders can gauge when policies are followed or when they are not, so that adjustments to thinking and attitudes can be made, or additional training can be given - and also to reinforce and share best practices.
Keeping up to date is extremely important. This is why I make sure that I am in constant contact with the students so I can get direct feedback from them about what they beleive they are learning and whether what they are getting in class is consistent with how the program was explained at the time of enrollment. Fortunately, in a small school like ours, we are able to talk with students quite frequently and easily to keep a pulse on what is happening.
When having weekly meetings with all the staff, receiving emails from the departments that make any type of changes and attend all type of training that are offered.
JORGE MANUEL,
Absolutely! It is through the efforts of all that you have a great product.
Patty Aronoff
As the Admissions Rep you need to make sure you are selling the great product you think you are... If you see concerns, relay them to the Director immediately.
Sue,
It really brings forward what your students are asking about. We can be prepared by sharing these FAQs.
Patty Aronoff
Scott,
Good plan! Your notebook's value rests on current information.
Patty Aronoff
Dexter,
Instructors and department chairs LOVE to talk about their programs. A great resource!
Patty Aronoff
Mattew,
Good communication is key in any organization in order to remain compliant and current in the field.
Patty Aronoff
I think keeping a "Frequently Asked Questions" hand-out sheet is a great idea. I will establish one as I go forward in my role as Admissions Director.
Typically when changes accur it is sent out via email and discussion. I will add any changes to my record binders and remove old policy.
