John,
The learning truly never stops. We will always have a new experience with a prospective client. This sharing will better prepare you.
Courtney,
You are right in that this is definitely a different world in the admissions/recruitment process. Best of luck!
I feel as if this is a forever changing type of business. There is always something new and exciting to learn and I am always more than willing to learn and obtain all necessary information to be as knowledgable to my students as possible
I believe I understand the way my institution works and all the services that offer to the student from beginning to end to help them achieve their goal. Any way I think communication and feedback within departments is need so we can have knowledge of any update or change made in advertisement, financial aid, student services and education.
I feel very knowlegable about my institution, but also realize it is an ongoing learning process. Things change, updates are made, students are never the same, and no situation is the same. So with our weekly training, online resources, great leadership, and this training, I know that I am always learning and providing the best information to everyone I meet.
I am somewhat knowledgable about my institution. I just started on board with this end of the student loan industry. I worked and managed a Loan Processing department for 5 yrs which is the opposite end of the spectrum for me so there is definitely a learning curve for me and these tools are helpful whenever I get stuck on a question or need advise..
Jay,
Interesting approach in that you are learning about your school almost from the student perspective. Make sure to share anything that is confusing or misdirecting. Many times we read things over so much we miss important changes that need to be made.
Stephanie,
Excellent to hear that meetings are established to share information. Sometimes just these simple steps of sharing can change the way we look at information and its delivery.
Corlee,
It is important that the entire school work together after all, it is the student who is the school. Dyanmic and enthusiastic staff who work together can bring the right impression to prospective students, but together they work for the success sought by all.
Vicki,
Excellent strategy wit Career Services. They can provide you a link between school and the industry. Maybe you can ride along on some of the visits to employers and get a real feel of where your students work after graduation.
I am fairly new here, but I studied the school's website and catalog before beginning employment. Once I started, I became a "student" of the school by seeking out and reading all available literature, speaking to the principals and long-time employees, and helping proofread the re-application for accreditation, which contained valuable information on the school's history and past and present objectives. I have learned a great deal in a short time!
All of our faculty and personnel know our institution very well, along with the rules and regs. We frequently have all faculty meetings to discuss new policies and procedures so that we are all on the same page.
I would rate my knowledge of my institution as very good. I have been here for many years and have excellent rapport with everyone.
I have, for many years, made a point of urging my prospective students to visit career services early on as they begin their education but I never realized how very important that is. I also, when possible, introduce my prospectives to the career services director who happens to be very dynamic and personable.
It's been my experience at different schools that financial aid and admissions generally don't get along but I have made a point of cultivating good relationships with all involved in the financial aid process. We put forth a team effort in working with the students.
I have been working as an Admissions Representative for my institution for 4 years now. I feel that I know quite a lot regarding my position, the programs offered, the department chairs, program directors, deans and campus directors. As far as the rules and regulations go that is an on-going lesson. A day does not go by where I do not learn something new, either a new regulation that has changed or a different situation that I need to adapt to, etc. There will definitely be more that I will be learning after taking this course. I will be requesting meetings with Career Development especially.
Antonio,
Half of knowledge is knowing where to seek knowledge. It is better to find out the answer and learn.
Miriam,
Nothing says better about a school than a successful student. Sounds like your institution is student centered.
Betsy,
Sharing your experiences with others assists everyone. Good communication links are important.
I think that I am on my way to be knowledgable enough about my institution, cause we learn everysingle day while working with my staff and students, and it is very wise to ask when you don't know.I always say that to have sucess in life, at work, in your personal life, in Network Marketing and be inspired and become a flame of inspiration and have great sucess, we all need to have passion for what you are doing. So,Knowledge is pretty necessary to give your best at work. So, yes.I am always keeping in touch with the rest of my staff, new policies or regulations and anything that smells new for a better job.
Our institution provides us with the necessary information needed in order for us to guide the students correctly. Therefore, they would be able to receive the right assistance in order to pursuit their courses and achieve their goals in life.
I think I have a pretty good understanding regarding the programs my school offers and what the students are looking for when they consider coming to the school. The professions we prepare students for are always changing and have a lot of regulations, so there is always a lot to learn. I typically try to learn updates from the chief academic officer and from the websites of the agencies that regulate the profession we train for.
