I feel as though I know a lot about our institution and am learning more each day. I make sure to ask a lot of questions from each department and listen to responses given to prospetive student questions.
I try to find out all about my school as it is important for my customer to feel confident that I am also knowledgeable in my understanding of our accreditation, past history, past successes and background of my college.
I'm just getting to know my institution. It's a bit overwhelming, but quite exciting!
I have the good fortune of working for a very small institution. This gives me the opportunity to know it extremely well. I am very grateful for this.
I am in the learning process. There is a wealth of information to learn inorder to be an effective Representative of my school.
I think I am pretty good at the On-Line side of things since I have taken plenty of on-line classes. On-line distance education is something that we are looking to get into. A focus group of ex-students would be perfect group to test and get feedback on the system to ensure that we as a educational facilty are meeting our goals.
Stephan ,
You have really delved into the deeper knowledge of your school. This is great advice to others whether they are new or veterans in the industry. Thank you for your post!

Michael,
I would also suggest you try learning more about the student side of the online experience. You will then have a more intimate perspective.

Catherine,
We can accept these opportunities as ones to grow and develop with our institution creating a better experience for our students through the job we perform.
Patty Aronoff
Mike,
History can tell the story of a school. From its humble beginnings t the changes over the years. It also gives a glimpse of the future in the direction the school is taking.
Patty Aronoff
Angela,
It takes a whole school to produce a graduate. We all have an investment in their future.

Knowledge of the institution comes from a variety of sources, including feedback from past students, discussions with instructors, asking questions of instructors on what parts of the courses offered are difficult for students, are exams for out side licenses needed, etc. The hand book offers much information on the courses offered, and the philosophy of the institution, and what may make it different from others offering similar courses as well. Any outside experience you can get within the scope of the classes offered helps the admissions counselor give real life input to students looking at a particular career. Asking to see copies of course materials also helps you to discuss what the student will be focusing on in any particular course, as with my school, I need to know about the daily routine of the job, offshoots of the job that may lead to other opportunitiees in the field, and the wages we see former students starting at so we can give real world answers to questions asked. All these add up to knowing your institution better, it's offerings, and what students expectations can be when enrolled.
I am new to the industry but have been trained well these past couple of days and understand a great deal about our Institute. I would rate my knowledge a 7/10. Understanding the compliance issues as it relates to federal regulations and students will help me to present in an ethical fashion.
I am very knowledgeable about the different types of courses that we offer at our institution. I have been there since day one and have seen all of the courses come on-line. What I am discovering is the administrative end of the courses such as registration, placement, admissions and record keeping. As I move up from the front lines of education to the office, there is alot of information that I am learning everyday.
I feel I know our institution pretty well. Speaking with the instructors also gave me a good idea what each course is about.
I have been here for almost 7 years now as there is always something new to learn. The biggest part of my job is to do the right thing adn have the right heart. With the knowledge and the right heart, we will all make a difference. I would also reate myself an 8 out of 10.
Having worked for my institution for 18 years I thought I knew a lot, and I do know a lot. But having moved to a new section I now realize there is a lot more to learn. The good thing is that being passionate about your Institution makes the learning interesting and not a chore. I am now developing skills in marketing and selling, that I had previously not had the opportunity to do, as well as gaining an indepth knowledge of the admissions process.
