When enrolling or possibly enrolling a student I ensure that I am honest with them and gather all the required documents necessary to qualify them for school and program enrollment.
As an Admissions Director, my single focus with my team of representatives, is to implore honest, transparent and ethical practices at every level of interaction with a prospective student. This ensues from the intial point of contact in booking an appointment, to the initial meeting face to face. Nothing we say should ever be misleading, unjust or inaccurate, I provide weekly tips on overcoming objections in an ethical manner to build enthusiasm and lead a prospect towards making the right decision that will benefit them. This comes into play as a culture of the campus. Are other departments acting ethically and honestly in terms of interaction with students and their expectations? Constant learning and training is a part of our culture. Also doing second interviews to find out if the prospect has received any information which could be misleading in their decision to attend, and clearly providing the framework of what is expected as a student.
Veronica,
Always confirm when you are not sure. There are subject matter experts in every area and they are always will to help.
Patty Aronoff
I think it´s always necessary to confirm the requirements with the academic area if I'm not sure of compliance with a specific requirement.
Larry,
We should continually be monitoring for compliance. If we do not, we risk the behaviors of noncompliance.
Patty Aronoff
Nelson,
Admissions interviewing should be monitored both through the interviewing process and calls.
Patty Aronoff
We conduct compliance training continually both verbally and in written form. We then monitor conversations and presentations that involve prospects and students to ensure compliance.
monitor admissions representatives by observing their interviews also by sending in a secret shopper
Nichole,
Mystery shoppers are an interesting way to evaluate your representatives. Seasoned representatives can often detect when a mystery shopper is in their midst.
Patty Aronoff
Diane,
Compliance is a daily activity. We should be always be learning and focusing on compliance.
Patty Aronoff
We have regular trainings to discuss compliance and ways to improve our institution. We have a mandatory 3 peer reviews each week to grade our ability to communicate openly and honestly to our prospective students. We also have mystery shoppers to grade our representatives to ensure that we are staying compliant even when we are not being monitored.
Review your compliance handbook, visit your compliance home page on your school's shared network often, read all of your emails that come in from the compliance director, and take any necessary and helpful quizzes and tests related to compliance. Be up to date with all of the latest statutes and other requirements for your state. Ensure your school is doing the same.
Jessica,
It should be first and foremost in everything we do. Success is the goal...for all of us.
Patty Aronoff
Theresa,
We all must be that way! If we hear or see misinformation, it needs to be corrected at once.
Patty Aronoff
howard,
We must be consist for compliance reasons. If someone deviates from policy or regulations, then we are all at risk.
Patty Aronoff
Being compliant and ethical is something we take very seriously at our institution. We are here to set the student up for success not failure.
I am responsible for my students and ensure that all policies and proceedures are adhered to. I also share an office and listen to make sure my office mate is also adhering to the policies. I am a stickler for making sure that all paperwork is completed properly.
Communication between the reps is key to ensure we are all doing the same thing. This makes it easy to help each other.
In addition to all the compliance rules and regulations, helping your co-worker is important as well. If you over-hear your co-worker get out of compliance, it should be immediately corrected. Teamwork is important. After all we are one happy Family at our Institution.
Belinda,
You have excellent processes in place to ensure the information given to the student is correct. Training should be a continual effort in admissions.
