Our institution has a Compliance officer who does a great job with keeping up to date on changes to statutes, rules and regulations. She quickly communicates any changes to the appropriate department and in many cases, does so well before changes are enacted to ensure a smooth transition.

I work for a school that has campuses accross three different states, therefore we are all potentially working with students accross state lines. We have a dedicated compliance officers/coordinators who help to make sure we are always up to date with all aspects. We also keep tabs on our information locally so there is a great checks and balance system.

In addition to the training received through this forum, our school is also a member of a consortium of colleges and universities that meet monthly to discuss and review admissions best practices, guidelines, and compliance issues. Having this type of forum discussion keeps everyone engaged in the process of maintaining compliance within the institution.

Cynthia ,
Don't forget to review past information when adding new information. It is amazing how it helps with recall.

My plan is to create a folder and update it everytime that I receive new information that will be helpful to me.

We keep folders up to date with all the information and when it needs update we circulate it all around for the staff.

Greg,

Patty Aronoff

Tatiana,
All information should be current and consistent. Often in our technological age, this can be challenging.

Regular participation in various professional development courses (internally, and via FAPSC) helps me keep in tune with compliant information. I also regularly read industry publications to stay informed about the higher education sector.

I use Outlook PST folders to file information regarding state and/or federal regulations; school policy updates; program policy changes and updates; and of course have bookmarked websites to reference quickly when necessary. This also helps when I need to meet with students - so I can print information from the school Intranet. I also have bookmarked pages to reference over the Internet from student interview rooms.

When you know what you need and/or where to quickly find the relevant information that you may not have initially, it shows the student(s) that you are the expert and can be a trusted advisor.

When students ask for information regarding our degree programs and or tuition and fees, in order to provide the most current and accurate information we guide the student to our student website. The website is always update, and the student can review information specific to their area to ensure accuracy.

The Director sent an email to all staff of the university with updates turn the engineer who is responsible for the public platform on our web page.

In Admissions regulations have a folder and this is constantly updated.

ARIELYS,

The webcast for the Commission is a great way to learn more about the agency and how they operate. Check it out!

My plan is to keep getting updated with these courses and one thing I find extremely helpful is going to the CIE meetings or watching them via internet, as well as checking out their web site for the rules and regulations.

Jeannette,

Excellent! Having a resource is very helpful in making sure the information is well disseminated.

Patty Aronoff
