I keep up-to-date by speaking to the other faculty and administration daily. We brain storm by going over proceedures already in place and often we come up with new Ideas to help with our process and the student.
Great suggestions; I also like to set Google alerts so headlines are sent directly to my email inbox.
I will keep up to date with changes by checking frequently with the Ohio Board.
Emily,
I like your idea of setting up a day each week to focus on rules and compliance.

I think it's essential to always be on top of changes. At my school, though I have only been here a week, it seems that things change very often, from curricula to department heads. I am in constant contact with every department to ensure the information I will give my students is entirely correct and complete. If there is ever any missing information, or something about which I'm uncertain, I will always ask (preferably before a student comes in, if possible) rather than assume. I think maintaining great communication between departments is the real key to staying up-to-date, as well as keeping a binder of information together. Every time something changes, I make note of it and update it in my binder so it can be referenced at a later time if needed. I also discard any incorrect or out-of-date information.
It is important to set a date within the month to remind someone to look for different changes that have taken place within the different laws. It is a good idea to remember that laws are subject to change at any time and it would be beneficial to look for changes to happen often. This is why I'm wanting to setup every Wednesday to look at the different laws and seek out any changes that could appear, in order to assure that I'm within the legal limitations of the laws.
I plan to check the Ohio board website frequently.. I will ask questions to the various departments I will also work in close contact with my supervisors and other personnel to make sure I am up to date. What other sugestions may you have to better keep up on changing information?
I think that is a great suggestion to keep up to date regarding information that is pertinent to admission roles through the Ohio Board of Colleges and Schools website.
I plan on keeping up-to-date by checking the website and also asking departments if they have any new information that I may need to provide for my students. I also plan on asking my supervisor and colleagues if they know of any new information.
Yes, excellent idea. It is so important to stay on top of policies, procedures, etc. and being aware of upcoming changes.
Communication is the key to keeping up to date. I will be in constant communication with those around me as well as use the resources around me.
I plan on staying up-to-date by checking the Ohio Board website on a monthly basis. I also plan to stay in constant communication with the various campus departments so I can always offer students with the most current information.
That is a great way to keep up to date and double checking with the field rep as well. I will definitly will keep this in mind.
Setting reminders on a recurring basis to check the OACCS site for new changes to policies or procedures. The corporate compliance officer and networking with other campus directors will also give me necessary up to date information. Any missing information can quickly be added to my existing resource binder to help keep me up to date on policies, procedures, and initiatives. This will also allow me the means to ensure that the staff is also kept up to date.
Our DOA keeps us informed on any changes and they will be discussed in our meetings.
I also plan to check the Ohio board website monthly. On a daily basis, I ask questions to the various departments when my students have questions. Especially when a student has just enrolled and they don't know faculty yet, I will do the research for them in order to find the answer that they are seeking...
I simply do my best to read all e-mails and print information I recieve thoroughly so I do not miss any updates. In a position where laws, regulations, state standards, etc. change constantly, it would be easy to fall behind quickly.
Joshua,
Be sure to visit the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools' website as well, as that is where you will find updates to the laws and rules.

There are two main avenues I will use to keep up to date. The first to visit the OACCS site to stay up to date with trainings and any changes which may occur. Another will to be using local resoucres at my campus. This can be co-workers and directors to understand changes.
I stay up-to-date by following several streams of information, The Ohio Board site, my college’s monthly newsletter, my college’s marketing newsletter, our accrediting body’s site as well as several other sources. Just checking-in once a month can keep one in the know.
