When asking my students how they heard about our school their answer will tell me a lot more than, they must watch TV or listen to the radio. Knowing the information shared with them in that advertisement can give me insight into their emphasis and why education is a priority for them at that time. It also allows for the opportunity for deeper questions. "what was it about that ad that really peaked your interest?", "Could you see yourself in that ad as a student?", "Why do you think we used this platform to reach potential students?" Asking these open-ended questions provide opportunity to find out what the students true motivation is and why that ad was successful in getting the student to inquire.
