yes our school location uses social networking sites. This helps let people come more familiar with our school. If a student is pleased or displeased with the product and the service that they recieve from school, they ca express their satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Other will see the review made by the particular student, which may effect their decision on either going to that school or not.

Our particular school does not use Social Networking sites to communicate with students, but alot of Admissions Reps do use Facebook to message students and keep in touch with them. Alot of students will check those sites more than checking their voicemail or even e-mail.

We use social networking sites for various reasons. We have found that it allows students to discuss work, projects, ect.
We also have found that word of mouth is our best advertising. Students who post projects on facebook are more likely to refer potential students to our program.

Social Networking has big impact on perspective students. We have where they can ask question on our website.

This is a great way to get the word out!! Every time I'm on facebook I see the ads for our school. Knowing that it is that readily available for everyone to see is nice to know!!

Good point. I think we are all victims of media overload. Phone calls are becoming more difficult because people don't trust the messenger. Too many lies being told in the desire to make a sale. Trust is hard to come by. If you send an email though the person receiving has the power to answer or not depending on their interest. The same would be true with social media like FB. We can usually insulate ourselves with an electronic wall. Just out of curiosity, are you on the no call list? I am.

I can understand your point. What must be understood is that no one is required to communicate unless they want to. We have it at work but I don't have a Facebook page because I like my privacy. I have email and sometimes I reply and sometimes I don't depending on the required input. Unfortunately social sites have made people less sensitive in their communications. We don't see people as human beings as much on the computer as we do in person. However, it can be very good as a marketing tool if we comply with the rules required by the states we serve.

We have Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. It helps us to connect with the students. It's how this generation communicates. I'm glad for the additional input. I see it as a nonintrusive form of communication. If students want to make contact they do, if not they don't. I'm a fairly private person and I don't like being required to give too much information unless it is my idea.

We are also just getting up and running on Facebook. It's a subject that we have struggled with for a while. We hope that it will be a good addition to our marketing plan.
It's nice to see that there are a lot of success stories.

Our school utilizes twitter, linkedin, facebook. This day in age it is almost necessary. Our school is mostly an online school and most have facebook and twitter. Its a free marketing tool and helps students find commonalities among other people and network. We are constantly posting up news stories or topics that relate to education and career stories or blogs. Students find it comforting and that they can share their opinions to the different posts. It is also a good marketing tool to get our name out there.

Yes, we have a facebook site and it has increased our exposure and always us to post upcoming events and the latest news. Also, we have pictures from Open Houses and Marketing Events that are popular "likes" for our friends. The Placement Department posts on campus interviews, resume submission opportunities, and the latest news and trends.

Our school has had great success in using Social Networking Sites to pull together our current students, future students and alumni. They now have the opportunity to find each other and connect to compare thoughts, experiences and stay in touch.

Social networking is huge and many of our students are more comfortable in a technological world, however, I am not aware of our school reaching out to very many perspective students from these sites.

Social networking has a great impact on communications with current and prospective students. Our social networking sites are used for student communication, advertising school events such as guest speakers, presentations, labs, etc... It can indirectly attract prospective students by having current students state where they attend school.

That's a very good point! I don't agree with SN sites to communicate with students; privacy comes into play.

Social networking sites have the potential of being huge marketing tools for all universities, both for-profit and non-profit, in recruiting prospective students. The institution I work for has a marketing plan in place for social networking sites, particularly being active on Facebook and LinkedIn. With the growing popularity of Twitter amongst the youth population, I can imagine that all universities will use this as a more prevalent marketing tool in the near future.

Social Networking is a definitely a big part of our lead generation. We have many leads that lead source detail comes from facebook, twitter, linkedin etc. We do have a full marketing plan on social media sites as this seems to be an unsaturated marketing database. We see our most quality leads coming from these sites.

Our institution is finally looking into social networking sites as a way of promoting the school and informing prospective students. I feel that social networking sites are vital to any business and will increase the visibility of the school. The social sites also provide a way for students to share positive experiences with others to further enhance the schools credibility.

We currently have facebook and twitter account and it seems the social networking sites have helped us keep better communication with our students, but looking through this forum to capture ideas to attract prospective students as well

My current school does not utilize social networking at all. However the school I previously worked for utilized social networking in mutiple ways. I found it very helpful to use facebook to contact my students as well as keep in touch with them once they started classes. The school also had a twitter account that students could follow to get important updated. I think that more schools should adapt to the cultural shift social networking has created.
