I have had many potential students come to our campus asking about accreditation. There is an issue in the area with other schools that have recently lost their accrediation and the prospective students find our school appealing because we have accreditation. I never compare schools or say anything negative about other schools. Also, they know how important it is in the job market in this area for them to make them more marketable to attend a school that has accreditation.
It allows the student better prospects for placement. It gives the student more confidence in choosing a school as well.
Some advantages my school has found for being accredited are that our graduates have improved employment and continuing education prospects.
and it also ensures high quality of education to our students
Provides high standards to ensure quality education for successful graduates.
I agree that advantages with accreditation would be reputation and credibility. Prospective students usually inquire of our school’s specific programmatic accreditation long before beginning the application process, so achieving the accreditation lends credibility to the school. Also, institutions of higher education that secure and maintain accreditation help to improve their reputation.
Our accreditation helps prospective students put some of their fears to rest. In our world today (also thanks to the internet) people now do more research and know that having a degree from an accredited school will help them and their resume stand out from other people. It also reassures them that their degree is not a waist of time and just another piece of paper. The accreditation validates the school to be trusted.
Our school has found that being accredited has made our reputation better in the community.
When our school has addition programatic accreditation, not only is it better for the student but it gives us the edge over a competitor who does not have the programatic accreditation!
I think it lets the student feel more comfortable about the school they are choosing to invest themselves in.
Besides the advantages stated above, another advantage of the school being accredited is that it provides security that the institution is monitored to ensure quality. Most potential students ask right away if the school is accredited even if they do not always know the advantages of the accreditation.
One of the biggest aspect of accreditation is the benefit of title four funding or financial aid. If the school isn't accredited, they are unable to offer a student government backed loans. Our school offers a career placement for our students, even though no school can guarantee a job, we do assist in helping in a career search.
Another benefit of accreditation for our students is that many of our students want to continue for masters and PhD's and CCNE accreditation allows them to do that. Also, we are finding many employers with tuition reimbursement are requiring CCNE accreditation for that. Finally, its a benefit for the prospective student to know we are held to certain standards as recruiters and will be given the proper information
It holds the school to a higher standard. It also lets the students know that the school is truthful and honest.
i agree it helps to ease students and parent worries when they know we have accreditation
it has opened the doors to have the school seen a better light as well as allowed the school to grow because of the more students we can serve
The benefits of my school being accredited is that it helps with credibility and transferrability of credits. Most prospective students insist on this.
The "right" accreditation is becoming more and more important for students to obtain post graduation positions. Without certain accreditations graduates may not be considered qualified to do the profession they obtained their education for.
I work for a University that is well established in other parts of the country. We are still new to our area and many people have never heard of us. Because of the accreditations we hold I feel that it is easier to get our name out in the community. We are among a few well established universities and colleges and the competition is vigorous. Once a person finds out that we have such high accreditation it peaks their interest to learn more about us and what we have to offer.
