We do the same and encourage students to do their research. Do many of your students transfer in to other schools/degrees? We offer an Associate Degree program and so this is a question we get often.
Our inquiries are similiar and know the benefits of attending an accredited school.
We have found that being Accredited puts us in the game when competing with other local schools. It also gives our students---and our local employers---added confidence in our programs.
It is a stamp of approval. Letting students and family knows that we are a quality educator and have gone through several requirements to better serve our stuidents
We often have to remind students that when it comes to transfer credits each school's policies and procedures vary. Many students want to know if our credits will transfer to local colleges and it is always best to put that back on the receiving school as it will be up to their regulations and expectations.
Most potential students that reasearch schools prior to enrolling, will ask if our school is accreditited. This is important to the smart shopper.
Yes, I agree with that...to tell a prospective student we are an accredited school gives a solid affirmation of our high standards.
having higher standards makes us look better in the eyes of educators and students. we live in an age of mistrust. people don't know who they can believe. adding an extra measure of oversight can raise the level of trust for the public.
I work with dino and what he says is right. we also inform our prospective students of the background checks required by the industry. accreditation provides a greater sense of quality regarding our school. we are proud of the fact that we have to meet many different standards that go above and beyond normal accreditation.
I find that in the environment of for profit schools that have gotten into "trouble" being accredited gives us the backing that we are doing things right and are on the up and up and it is a comfort for an incoming student and their family.
it helps when our competitors boast about them selves while bashing us. we believe that the truth is the truth not ugly or pretty or anything else but the truth and when a prospective student calls just to verify the prior institutions statements it helps to solidify our place and validates that we r here to help.
Being accredited is important for potential students and parents to know. I believe it validates the fact that we operate within specific guidelines and the education the student is receiving has validity in the industry as well.
The regulations set forth by accreditation help school administrators design programs and make the school equipt for learning and making students successful.
The benefits of Accrediation are many. It first and foremost indicates that an institution is willing to show what and how it performs to an independent organization. It is a requirement to qualify for Federal Aid for your students to use to assist in payment for the program.
The majority of prospective students that call in, ask if we are accredited. They understand if we did not have accreditation their degree may not get them into their employer or career of choice. Basically, having accreditation boosts enrollments and makes the college a viable player in a very competitive industry.
Katherine,
I agree completely with your statement. Reputation, and credibility is becoming more and more important to prospective students now. Higher education is an investment of time and training, and students want to know their work and investment will be recognized by future employers.
Thanks for sharing,

One of the greatest benefits our school has found with being accredited is the value our students see in their programs when they know their school has taken the necessary percautions to ensure their program meets specific standards within our accreditation body. In addition to this, more and more prospective students are wanting to know how employers will receive their educational training, and if employers in their field of study will recognize their degree. It allows us to differentiate ourselves from other non-accredited schools.
Katherine,
I think a positve reputation is really important too and, although I have not personally worked in the career services department, I can imagine that having accreditation would make it easier for them to aid students in seeking employment.
This is an easy question to answer -- credibility! Most students have an idea what accreditation means and how important it is for a school to possess it so we have instant credibility in their eyes when I discuss our current accrediting body with them.
Aside from new student enrollment, it also helps in the development of business partnerships and creating and maintaing relationships with "sister" colleges.
One advantage to an accredited school is that they have a proven level of quality in meeting established standards. An accredited school creates goals for self - improvement and is committed to raising its standards.
