yes we are able to have them take a refresher course "six week to success" and make sure that they are Committed and refresh some of the skills thay needs updated.

Shari,

It sounds like your school has a very solid process in place.

We require a High School diploma or GED first. Our potential students also have to take a learning assessment to ensure we are setting them up to be successful. Depending on their program of interest, certain scores may be required for them on the assessment.

I concure. Allowing students who do not pass the evaluation to take classes will allow the student the opportunity to be successfuly.

More stringent assessment upfront.

Rachele,

If it is not already in place, your school needs to adopt a detailed admissions policy. If a student cannot be successful in the field after completing the training, they should not be allowed to enroll in the program. Are applicants required to pass a background check?

We have a Provisional Period for all new students. They must sign in for their first 28 days of class to be fully accepted. This gets them in the habit of attending class and lets students know the importance of attendance, which will improve their grades, which will get them to graduation. Hopefully, they will take what they’ve learned about the importance of showing up and get hired!!
We also have students take an entrance exam. If they are not ready for college courses, we offer a six week program to teach them fundamentals and get them ready for class so they aren’t set up to fail.

Our campus has gone through extensive measures to evaluate a students readiness and capacity to complete a program and transition into their career.
First they complete an assessment, that focuses on reading comprehension, basic math skills, logic and criticial thinking

Second we interview each and every student and create a Career goal sheet and plan for them, and we reveiw the curruiculm with them.

Third they take a math and english assessment so they can be placed in the appropriate class level

Finally during their first 28days with our school they meet with the Program Director, and Career Services Director to review their progress.

Our institution has added a minimum GPA requirement from high school or former college to our requirements.

Our institution has made available through out the interview process several links that we advise prospective students to review in order for them to decide their success in their chosen program. These links will provide information such as:Academis, Financial aid facts, textbook lists, career services, student services and gainful employment/ student success.

Our school has an entrance test they take in order to make sure they will succeed in the accelerated program. Also we require students to maintain at least 90% for attendance to ensure they are present to obtain the skills and knowledge required to be successful in their career field.

Have you ran into any issues with "discrimination" for not allowing individuals with certain backgrounds into your program? We do not have a policy in place for that at this time, but have discussed it due to all of the employability requirements. Currently it is to the admissions representatives discretion, but I know when I have turned some away and told them they are not employable in our industries I have received quite an earful...

The college I work for has added some additional criteria to our admissions application, as well as required each representative to use a specific interview questionare to make sure important questions are asked. We also have very strict attendance policies due to the fact that most employers ask about a student's attendance prior to asking about their grades.

The institution I'm employed by has taken several measures to ensure that every potential applicant is provided information such as graduation and placement rates prior to submitting an application. URL links to such information are also provided so they are able to review this information at home.

Yes, the school I work with has added additonal information to the packet that students are able to take with them upon visiting the campus. this info was detailed information about grad rates, etc. In additon to the material, as agents it is part of the process to also verbally make students aware of these rates.

Our school revamped the Online Student Questionnaire and the Online Demonstration Guide to include all compliance points and ensure that we have ethical, honest and compliant conversations with our prospects. Students are also required to complete the online orientation before their classes are made available to ensure they know how to effectively navigate in our LMS and are ready to start classes. Our Admissions Representatives are also required to work with our students through the first 2 weeks of school along with Student Support to help ensure they are able to successfully start and continue their education.

There are many factors that contribute to a student's qualifications for success. However, to help ensure it, thorough admission requirements and entrance tests do assist. We offer study guides to help candidates prepare for these exams and they may re-test but a passing score must be achieved to move forward with the application. All programs require a HS diploma or GED, minimum age with proper identification and most require background checks. A strict admissions protocol is followed and a committee, comprised of the DOE and Program Directors, review and approve all submitted/completed files.

Crystal,

How do let students know if you feel they are not ready?

Kimberly Stein

Our college is not an open enrollment school. Our potential students must answer questions like, are you commited to finding empolyment or determined to work in the career field? Plus, all of our students have to have pass a background check for their program to make sure that they would be able to work or become licensed in their career field.

Our institution is going to great lengths to see that any prospective students understand exactly what we do at our college and that they understand our program. Beyond that we are making sure that the student shows potential to complete every aspect of the curriculum. We make sure that their dream lines up with our college and that we can truly help them to get closer to obtaining their success that is desired. Our students not only appreciate the honesty but also the passion that is shared for the field of study they are wanting to pursue.
