Defining Customer Service

What is your definition of customer service? How does this impact the service you provide?

I define customer service as the ability to provide optimal delivery of care for the customer's overall experience. That means that we have to know all the angles of point of service and anticipate the customers' needs and provide the highest value approach to ansering calls, giving presentations, making oneself available, delivering the best products.

Good customer service is providing expected and excellent services with a positive customer experience. It includes being accessible for the customer needs, being reliable and listening to and addressing customer concerns. One must ensure that customers feel that we care about their success by providing assistance and support.

Customer Service to me is treating the customer in a way they are accustomed to being treated. I've learned that if you find out a person's likes and dislikes and understand their personality, you can provide the best customer service. It may take a little time and some innocent probing, but having the right information will always direct you to outstanding customer service.

Customer service in my field is treating each student like an individual with respect, listening and appreciating their point of view and when necessary, letting them know that they are not always right, but doing so while making them still feel important and valued.

I feel good customer service is vital to any organization. It will keep your customer returning and they will tell others.
Good customer service...means always willing to go the extra mile to be helpful.

I completely agree with module 1:

Customer Service is being completely all about the customer ‘student’ every day.

It impacts the service I provide because ‘world class customer service’ is a culture. Just like healthy eating is a lifestyle change- so is world class customer service. Offering the ultimate customer services has to be the culture within the organization. Consistent internal and external customer service is important.

Great awareness, Scott! It's true that exceeding customer expectations drives their loyalty. Thank you for sharing!

I define customer service as any action I can take that will not only meet a customer's expectations but also exceed them. Customer's usually have many places to choose from whenever they are looking for a particular good or service. Good customer service means doing more than what the customer expects from you and providing them with the kind of outstanding memorable experience that will not only cause them to choose you as their provider now but also to choose you as their provider in the future.

Customer service is key to any successful business!!!

Satisfying the customer is my definition of customer service. Providing superior customer satisfaction.

Theodore, Changed in a positive or negative way? It's also important to provide customer service to each other (those we work with). Do you agree?

Customer service is an experience not just "something else." Through processes that I helped implement, we are returning to a customer-centric approach within our customer service. In the educational industry today it is essential to treat every student-customer with empathy, respect, and understanding. It is amazing over the last two years how things have changed at my school.

Having a positive attitude, greeting the customer at first sight. Taking time to listen. Basically treating the customer the way I'd want to be treated!

Denise ,

Absolutely! Thank you for your post!

I feel like customer service is treating customers with dignity the way I would want to be treated!
service with a smile!

Ricky, Nicely put. Great customer service does not have to come at the expense of anything. It should be an addition to all your institution offers. Thank you for posting!

I think it would be to make the customer satisfied in all aspects of the business you are in. This is sometimes difficult when your customers are students. We can all (hopefully) remember what our teachers were like when we were in high school, when their word was law. Trying to get away from that and really listening to their problems or complaints is a real key to the learners being happy, apart from giving a quality education.

Treating customers with repect and providing a quality product.I think they should be treated like we would be treated.

My definition of customer service is going above and beyond to create a culture that addresses the needs and concerns of your client in order to foster an experience and a relationship that promotes continual interaction. This philosophy impacts the service I provide because it hold the organization, division, or individual accountable for their actions and the customers experience.
