It is important to identify the attitudes of the student body in order to keep them engaged in the content

It is important to engage students in a manner that meets the expectation of real life situations

Late Work

In my teaching experience, I've tried different policies on late/absent work. Usually, the more lenient the policy, the more students will take advantage. The most effective late work policy that has worked for me is the no late-work policy. It's clear and without room for exceptions, students know there is no excuse for not getting the work done. If an instructor simply relates the Golden Rule, students will understand the true importance of getting assignments done right and on time. If we teach according to "real-world" rules, then we are preparing our students for their chosen careers.

personal time

I only talk about my personal life if it directly relates to the subject matter at hand

Cheating

I have had one cheating student it was on a federal cert the student had to leave and was not allowed to return till counseled by the dean?

unruley students

How often do you have to send a misbehaving student home ? Just to keep order in the class. I have had some that just maybe had a bad night or just were having a bad day?

Irrelevant tangents

I teach a legal class to medical students. I have a student who constantly wants to talk about other legal issues that really are not relevant to the course material. How do I guide his interest into a more constructive route?

What about Facebook and Texting

Texting and online sites such as Facebook can also be very time consuming. Yet these are technologies that our students use on a regular basis and are one of their primary methods of communication. How do you cope with these technologies? -Glenn Hobbs

[What's Stressing You Out?

Honestly, the most stressing me out is traffic.

Taking control of your time

When you are able to save time for you, your duality of life will be less stressful.

Taking control of your time

Excellent training, provides good resources how to control our time during the class period.

Staying Positive

I have a class with some students that have such low self-confidence and I find that being positive in managing your classes is half the battle. Once the students know you care about them and positive they become more motivated and dependable.

Admitting you don't know

I am a humble person by nature and often say that I don't know about something if I don't know it in the classroom. Do you advise not doing that? What is a good way to handle being honest with the students about not having expertise in an area?

New Instructor

It is important to walk into class on your first day with your head held up high and shoulders back exuding confidence in yourself.

NEED TO KNOW

This is a module I would recommend to other instructors, no matter how long they have been teaching. I have been teaching for 15 years and I got so much from this module that I had forgotten about. The reminders in this module really brought back a lot of stuff.
