How can we encourage the silent students?

These students are shy, we have to first involve them with small group of students and then gradually through encouragement should bring them out of their shells.

Importance of the course they took in thier lives..

Most of the students have non-serious behavior. They should be made to realize to value their money and time. We should sit with them and try to explain what benefits they can get out of this course and how they can meet the challenge.

Budget for stress

Should school have line items for stress reducing activities?

Exercise

Why does culture not encourage power naps during the work day to relieve stress?

Scanning

Can we integrate a scanning technology for grading an essay?

Time

How can we convince administration to add an assistant to increase our time management?

Dealing with challenging students

listen to their opinions ask them if you need to change something related to the class, or ask them to give ideas to make the class more interesting

syllabus

It is very important to let the students know the due date of homework

the yearly 'watch'

I get stressed a little when I hear I'll be watched as I instruct to do the yearly 'watch' of teachers to make sure they are doing well. I know I am, it just a added stressor. I try not to think about them coming in because I know I'm already a great teacher, and do my 'thing'.

to book or not to book

This past year my school changed their series of books we use. The new series of books have all the answers but don't teach the course like I'm used to, the older books had a tutorial that ran through them. So I teach out of the old book, but refer to the new book when there is something of high importance I want them to remember or use.

I use 'Examview pro'

I use 'Examview pro' which I believe is now http://www.einstruction.com. I set up my own multiple choice questions for tests and put them on my web site for the class to take exams online. the grade and which answers they get wrong goes right to my email for easy grading :)

Designers are artists

A lot of them don't take designing their projects seriously. I tell them to look at designs that are like the one they are working on and they will have a better feel for what needs to be done. But 80% never take the time to do this. Then I show them what I mean and they get it, but they still don't implement. The students finally do this, and have a successful piece of work but by this time it's usually too late to hand it in.

ED104

Student in center of attention. This type of student just needs to be included in all discussion topics. Also student needs to participate in group topics, labs, hands on training. The more he/she interacts, the better they will be in the outside world of making a living...

ED104

Talking to students about your own experiance and carreer, could motivate them to see their future carreer opportunities.

ED104

Having a wide variety of learning activities, lab activities, helps students want to learn, want to succeed.

Students talking in class

Some of my students are constantly chatting in class. If they disturb me or others, I put a stop to it. Because they are in the back of the room in a large class, sometimes their behavior goes unnoticed by me. Their classmates often 'shhh' them or otherwise reprimand them on their own. Is it ok for me to let students regulate themselves like this, or will it cause animosity and other problems between them later on?

Cardiovascular Sonography

Very well presented class. I have a better understanding on which routes to use if I have a disruptive student.

Unteaching Styles

The thrust of the videos is that it is less than desirable to be a Controller, a Buddy or an Apathete. One of our classes last quarter was less successful, and there are some clues here to find out why. Could my students perceive me as a Controller, Buddy and Apathete all in the same evening? Of course, I've always strived to be a Guide. One of the twelve students on the roll had a reputation. My failure to respond properly when she arrived late, stumbled in and conducted her own conversation led to the lack of respect and failure of others. Opportunities for all of the other eleven to share their ideas were lost. My goal is to have another quarter when all of our students not only pass some tests but perform the skills they need in their individual careers.

Manageing the adult learner

The interaction between the instructor and the adult student learner is very important to the students success. Being that the adult learner, is generally, older and has life experience's to reference. The younger learner, who does not have these experience's, may be more challenging to reach.

trouble in paradise

Ove the years ?I have learned to handle student situations a little different. For example bullying of students by another student. I incorporated a video on lateral and horizontal bullying with students.
