SHIKIRA, Great. Are you referring to resume skill building in every classroom or just workshops taught by career services? We think the answer should be to focus on career services within every classroom plus special workshops held regularly and required. This means teaching instructors how to bring career services into every and any class. It means workshops that every student must attend. Thanks, Susan Dr. Susan Schulz
SHIKIRA, This is sooo great. We also believe that career services should be offered on Day 1 as well as presented during the admissions interview. In fact, we encourage schools to have Admissions and Career Services sit together! Students might need part time work during training. They certainly need a lot of training in employment skills and the job search. In fact, grads need specialized career services training, too. Thanks, Susan Dr. Susan Schulz
SHIKIRA, Great that you meet regularly re retention and placement. You are right that documented employment information is very valuable to the admissions department. Instructors can be guided to focus on knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. You also point out the need for all faculty and staff to work as a Team on behalf of each student. Placement definitely impacts on all areas of the school. All employees need to understand their roles. Thanks, Susan Dr. Susan Schulz

Linda, Good idea to focus on what you can control. In doing what you do other staff can watch and learn. So you are making a difference for other members of the greater school organization. Your focus is great. Suggest you print and distribute to your Team and have them update it often. By the way, hope you have a formal alumni program. MaxKnowledge offers a course with all the how to's whether you are new to alumni or need to enhance your current program and address challenges. By the way, sorry for any delays in responding to you. Latika, It's about a focus on great placement rates. That's why students enroll - to get jobs. It's vital to keep detailed placement records. That tells you how you are doing and lets everyone else know that your school is serious about job placement. It's critical to have all faculty and staff working toward student placement. Great placement impacts admissions, retention, and of course placement. Thanks, Susan Dr. Susan Schulz

Jonathan, Great that TV is working for you. Maybe you want to share your secret. Sounds like you have figured out the formula to reach leads in good numbers. You have noted that now it is important to measure phone responsiveness, if they keep appointments, how qualified, and also how many enroll. We also think that radio can be effective for branding. Some stations provide an environment of being more informational than promotional. Alumni are a great way to increase all your numbers and reduce costs. MaxKnowledge offers a great course on what you need to know to set up… >>>

Marcie, Radio and TV are not for every school. Radio and TV has to be watched carefully or else results will not warrant costs. Posters have worked when they include testimonials of happy grads. Imagine a large poster with a photo of the grad as a student and then in a career - with lots of verbiage saying why they are successful. It sells prospective students all the time. Post them throughout your schools and create books with happy and successful grads. Using your advisory board and also alumni have lots of benefits. You get great ideas and a lot… >>>

Jonathan, How are the TV and radio ads working and how do you measure success? Buying out specific shows might be the answer. How is it going? Pandora and Golden Services Live are great when used effectively. Marketing costs have to be watched. Few people realize that it is about quality enrollments and sometimes clever advertising is not the way to go. Alumni are a great source to address many issues in a career school. Alumni are very credible sources and appreciated by parents, high school guidance counselors, and Workforce staff. Not a surprise. If people are so successful as… >>>

Marcie, How is online advertising working for you in terms of quantity and quality of leads. As you mentioned, quality is very important. How are the media kits and in what form are they? We have found that people don't like to read or sort through webpages. That makes marketing a challenge. Often that points to testing out various ways to build a brand. It requires understanding your current and future target market and determining what gets their attention. Thanks, Susan Dr. Susan Schulz

Jonathan, Great to use various media platforms. What are the ways you measure effectiveness? Perhaps one is better than the other to reach your target market. Using the Chambers is also a great idea. What other organizations are there in your community that either have information that is valuable to you or can disseminate information about your school? Press releases are a great idea. Actually sending information about open houses, start dates, and more, to calendar editors, is a great way to get your name in print. Press releases require a great story in order for them to get picked… >>>
