The students need to know where they are in the course, so they can know if they need to improve or not. It will let them know if they need to put in more time studying, or maybe need extra help?

Hi Stephanie:

By consistently allowing students to have an idea of how they are doing in class, they have the chance to make changes in study habits as soon as possible. By doing this, they promote a more successful outcome for themselves by the end of the course.

It's important to keep students informed of their status in the course because, I feel that they learn as they go alone. It is best to see how you have done on the quiz before you give them an exam because they can see the mistakes that they made and learn from it. Also, this builds up cofidence in the student when they get the chance see how well they have retained the information that you as the instructor have been teaching them.
