Hi Rebecca:
Preparedness and readiness are similar adjectives with similar meanings. When I'm ready, I'm prepared to take on the assignments, students, challenges, disruptions, and situations. Of course I'm also ready to deliver a comprehensive teaching environment alive with enthusiasm, energy, and excitement. As a role model, students will pick up on this passion and begin to emulate it to some degree.

Hi Kenneth:
I feel I'm ready for my classes when I have taken the time and effort to get my resources together, have all my assignments, check on equipment (PPTs), and anf jazzed about the subject. Enthuisam is a terrific type of preparation that livens up even ordinary classes. It's something we all could probably engage in a bit more.

Being prepared sets a tone and a level of expectation for the students. On days when I haven't felt prepared, it seems that a lackadaisical attitude also sets into the classroom. I can't expect student involvement, interest, and a level of concern for the material if I don't first set the example.

Students are looking to their instructor as an expert in his/her field. Being unprepared sends a message of incapability. Also, students learn far more from instructors than subject matter - organization can be on of these!

Organized and prepared is the key to a Professional image. It is eaiser for me to prepare ahead and guide the students through the content. If I'm unprepared I'm letting the students lead the class by their questions and I don't feel as competent. Also if I prepare ahead I am ready for any odd questions that may come up.

It shows respect to your students!!

You must know the personality of all of your students!! Handouts are always good to show students exact information. I love guest speakers!! They bring such a great change to the classroom.

Hi Francis:
Yes, we are role models and being prepared regularly sets the tone and invisible instruction for our students. Preparation means we are ready, ready to roll up our sleeves and do what we do, and tackle the obstacles that may come our way. No worries, we are prepared!

Hi Sandra:
Prepared means ready. Ready for what the day, the students, the situations, the relationships - all of it, we're ready to take it on. When unprepared, gosh, even the slightest little disturbance can seem like a tidal wave. We can control the circumstances (through preparation) or they can control us. I choos the former.

Hi Natalie:
Great! Starting out the day right, well, and prepared is a wonderful model to follow. When things are in order, the day is in order and even disruption, interuptions, or unplanned situations don't seem to be as bothersome. I am convinced students are able to sense this. We are all capable of creating this environment if we see it has value.

Hi Jacquelyn:
Ah, stability. Organized classrooms certainly provide that. And I agree that students will tend to perform better in this climate than when in a disorganized clutter of classroom mess. Things can be neat, but if the teacher is not organized, it promotes the "Huh?" effect by students. No one wants that.

Hi Raegan:
Wonderful. Life is good. Enjoy it to the fullest!

It is very important to be organized and prepared because we as instructors are asking this of our students. Another reason we should be be organized and prepared is so that We keep that level of professionalism. My last reason is beacuse if we are not, we are shark bait for the students, and we are open to a world of problems and headaches

Hi Faith:
You're right - preparation shows! I agree with you too that students appreciate (respect) the time and effort a teacher will put into a particular presentation. This gives us the opportunity to be good role models for the trade or work they're being trained for.

Regards, Barry

Organization is good and is important. Sometimes the students will try to throw you off track but if you are well prepared this is not possible.

Arriving to class prepared for lecture allows me to get my day started off right. I feel less stressed, therefore my students act a bit more relaxed. The classroom atmosphere is much more enjoyable when the students feel like the instructor has a plan for the day and is ready.

Hi Rodney:
True, unprepared teachers are not going to be as efficient and productive as they should be. As you imply, wasted time is going to ultimately take time away from the student.

Regards, Barry

Hi Dorrell:
I think some student are oblivious and some are very tuned in to the level of preparation an instructor has performened. Nonetheless, it is one our basic duties and responsibitities - our duty to give all we have. And that includes preparation.
