renita,
and by showing the strengths & weaknesses hopefully the students can get a stronger feel for working with the diversity in the room.

George ,
I really like the idea of the debrief as it forces them to think through "why" what happened did, rather than it just happening.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Each student will immediately start using the multiple intelligent that best suits them. After the exercise students should be debriefed as to what kind of strengths or weaknesses they found they used in the exercise. Also a discussion can be pursued to see if there was any other asset students preferred instead of the one they used.

The interpersonal work would also come with asking the students to talk with the other members of the class they don't already have something in common with. The activiity opens the door to talk with all of their classmates about a safe subject. The all have the project in common.
Spatial/visual learning is reinforced becasue they are actively moveing around the classroom looking for clues and partners to compolete the task. They energize eachother with this activity.

It will show the strenghts and weaknesses of each individual while getting them to interact with those they normally may not. The instructor can observe the dynamics of this particular class in small group settings.

It would map to most of the multiple intelligences by
giving them a chance to work together (Interpersonal)
having to put it in order (logical)
visually placing people in order (spatial)
Listening to music (Musical)
One project per person to think on first (Intrapersonal)
Moving around(bodily)
funplaying game (emotional)
not so much on the naturalist and existential

It would map to all seven by adding elements of each in the activity. Students will be able to apply all actions while learning to get communicate with others in the group. Students also have to work by themselves which gives them purpose.

Brant,
and I think this helps our students be more prepared for the real work world as they must learn to utilize a variety of talents & abilities.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

By the team working interdependently with each other to achieve success they all have to utilize multiple intelligences as a whole.

At my school I do a relay race with different techniques. They really get how important different techniques have to be done in a fast enviroment.

It involves all of the different learning styles, auditory, visual, kenetic ect. as well as works on oranization and team building, & interpersonal skills.

I dont think this would be good. I have students that are very hyperactive and would be bouncing off the wall. I would dmuch rather play a nice tune and involve in some art of some sort.

A better understsnding of the differant learning styles will help me to be more uiversal style teacher,I fell this will help me to better connect with all my students.

This maps to the intelligences in multiple ways:
1. It is physical; students are moving aroound the room.
2. It is musical; fast and fun music sets the stage.
4. It is visual: students must recognize and find the answers in their fellow students.
5. It is auditory: students are asking and listening to their peers.
6. It is emotional: students are esponding to the task, encouaged by each other and the music.

Key element as it relates to all the intelligences is Interpersonal.

Great thought. Also, being able to focus on the task at hand and keeping the fast-paced music from interferring with the work that needs to be done can be challenging form some, especially in a group setting.

Kelly,
and it helps the students see how diversity can be used to our advantages.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

- Interpersonal: Students discuss with each other to complete the task.

- Logical/mathematical: The requirement to arrange themselves in the proper order.

- Spatial/Visual: Finding the other students in the class.

- Musical: Background music stimulates excitement

- Verbal: Speaking with the rest of the team in order to facilitate organization.

- Intrapersonal: Each student considering their own step in the 5 step process.

- Kinesthetic

The advantage to this exercise is that it allows the students to contribute their strengths, while having the support of the others for their weaknesses.

This is a wonderful way for multiple intelligences work together and learn from each other. As well as bringing in the benefit of music.
