I think it makes it less likely that they will be confused as to what is expected. I personally like to see examples. We don't all think alike. When we are verbally told what the assignment should be, there could be numerous interpretations. Not everyone has the gift of clear explaination. If a sample is shown, it narrows the chance for deviation.

In showing your students examples; they have tangible information to draw more knowledge and a better understanding of materials and information being taught.

So they can have an idea of the level of expectation.

The adult learner needs to know why and what. What will this do for me and why is it important to me. Showing examples helps to answer these questions. It also helps to engage the learners.

I think it is helpful because students want to know what is expected. If they can see what work is going to be given and an example of the responses to that work, they will know how to create their own responses. The students do not want to fail, they want to succeed. Helping to know what is expected will aid this for the student.

It is important to show students examples of the work because it will give them a chance to see what they will be doing and students do gain a better understanding when they can see what they are going to be doing.

It is helpfull to show the students work that they will be doing so they have an example of what is expected of them and to see what it should look like. They can start to think about it and get ready for what is to come.
