Hi Deborah,
Students love seeing the final product.
Patricia

Hi John,
Students want to know expectations and deadlines.
Patricia

Hi Christopher,
Students really tend to fully understand what is expected of them whenever they can see it.
Patricia

So that they understand what you expect. So that they are able to see how things connect, particularly if what you're teaching has a specific sequence in which tasks need to be completed. In culinary school we refer to it as the magic of TV. You have specific things completed that you can show to the student since you don't have the luxury of time to walk through each step completely without using up the entire class time.

So the student knows exactly what is expected of them and when it is do.

Showing examples of work helps to build a students confidence especially in an online environment.
In an online environment you lose the immediate feedback that you get in a classroom. Many of my students have communicated to me that they initially had a correct answer to a problem but was unsure of their abilities.

It provides direction and standards while creating enthusiasm for the curriculum.

because it can givethem ideas of whats ahead and mentally prepare them for the next course at hand

Hello Anthony,
I always show three examples, such as excellent, average, and failing.
Patricia

Hi Patricia,
I love to share examples with students, and they appreciate seeing the examples.
Patricia

Hi Mark,
Students appreciate being shown examples. Things appear a lot clear when examples are shown.
Patricia

gets them involved and can excite them

This shows them what they can expect to accomplish and gives them a visual aid. It also allows they to see some ideas on how the work/project might be done. If a student is a visual learner this allows them the visual they need to complete the work.

Actual and visual examples are particularly effective for certain type of learners. Additionally, you can also show examples of work of what not to do for studetns to avoid making similar mistakes.

Hi Troy,
What a great way to get current and well as incoming students excited and involved.
Patricia

Hi Raymond,
I love visual more so than verbal as you have expressed. I need to see it!
Patricia

Hi Lydia,
Students feel more at ease whenever they can see the finished product.
Patricia

Hi Holly,
It becomes realistic by seeing.
Patricia

I think it's important for the students to become motivated, for one thing. They get very excited when they see something they may have only heard about being done right in front of them - they also realize that it doesn't take magic to create beautiful things; they realize that they really will be able to accomplish the projects set for them in the course outline/syllabus.

It is important to show examples of work so that the students can see what is expected. It helps relieve the stress or tension associated with handing in assignments.
