I disagree with this post in my experince networking with each department learning how it funtions, sitting in on classes, and using the resources avalibale to us both in our institiution and through the state you can surley set yourself and your prospective students up for success. I dont did agree that it would make the process a little easier. however, to say that we are not able to be succussful, acurate, or informitve is false. sometimes coming in green can bring a whole new persective as apposded to being so jaded or complacent by out experience.

I think it is very important for us to be very knowledgeable about our schools programs and process. I am fortunate because I started as the receptionist and then became a financial aid officer, and then admissions and now admissions manager. By having the knowledge of every process and program specific detailed information has helped me to be a very accurate advisor and I contribute my high retention to me understanding everything it will take for the student to graduate from our program and show them how they can do it. Once a student can see they CAN achieve it!

Cheree,

Keep on learning. As programs change, we must learn the facets of the program.

Cheree,

As we change our programs, we need to learn the new aspects so that we can properly share this information with our prospective students.

After working for UOP in total 7 years, I am quite familiar with the university from multiple aspects.

I know my institution offers a variety of Associates, Bachelors, Masters adn Doctorate programs. We recently launched a new version of our business program. I am discovering mor about the certificate programs as they are being mre requested.

I rate my knowledge as great! I know we have Associates, Bachelor, Master and doctorate programs. We also have certificates. Recently we updated our business program to a new version. I am discovering more information about the certificates since it is not as requested.

I have held several positions at my university. I feel comfortable with my knowledge level of programs, enrollment, and financial aid

Being it is my first week on the job I will rate my knowledge about the institution a 6. However, I do know that we are nationally accredited by Acredited Commission for Career Colleges and Schools. We are also a non-profit organazation that believes and invest in the community. We are a career college with hands-on training, smaller class sizes, a wide variety of programs (with blocked scheduling) and we provide job placement assistance.

I would rate myself a 7 with regards to knowing my institution. However my objective is to contiue growing and become even better painting a picture for those I work with so that they can make a well informed decision.

Patty my particular situation is a plus as an admissions rep; for I am a graduate from this institute so I am very well equipped with product knowledge to answer all questions to prospective students acquiring about the school. I also have the luxury of built relations with instructors and lab assistants to further my education in understanding that if there is a new "discovery" I am told and I then do my research to understand how it may help in answering questions from students and prospects.

I agree that every department has a role in a student graduating. Students must work with each department in getting to the final destination; graduation therefore it is crutial that each department work with each other.

Having been here almost a year I am fairl knowledgeable about my school but I find I still learn aomething new everyday.

Karen,

That's a lot for your very first day! Keep on learning.
