I have just marked my year anniversary with my school - we offer just one certification which is massage therapy. We are a private school and have a small staff - I am an instructor at the school along with 3 other people in Administration and teaching the massage therapy program. Because we are a small school I am able to work very closely with Administration and the other instructors. It really is a "hands on experience" and I am enjoying it very much. I find the more I can get involved with the more I learn about our school.

I rate my current knowledge of my institution at an 8 out of 10. I'm a returning employee from 4 years ago so my background with the company is certainly facilitating my immersion into my on boarding process. I am discovering that there is a heightend level of focus with all of the federal regulations being implemented effective July 1. This university has always wanted to 'do the right thing' for it's students, but now more than ever the focus to faciliate positive outcomes for our graduates (becoming gainfully employeed with a low student loan default rate) is critical and essential so best practice and strategies...translating into policies have been fully implemented.
Being a Program Director I am very knowledgeable with all programs on the campus. Having the responibility of conducting instructor class room observations for many programs, it gives me the chance to know the programs and the various fields of employment of the students.
The institution is provides a wealth of knowledge to help curren and/ or prospective students succed in life. The institution enables students to uunderstand the life is a "dream". Through education you are able to access any door within your respective realm. Through the deans, career services, recruiters, instructors, and faculty help and support the students dreams.
I have been in this industry no very long, but I need to understand about the institution I work for, because if I don't know about the school I will not be prepared to help that student and to be able to answer their questions about the school. I need to absorb all about the institution.
That the institution has students nationwide and we must adhere to federal and state regulatory requirements which are updated regularly. I know that we offer a wide variety of degree program options from associates degree to docotoral degrees in health(including nursing), education, business, humanities, criminal justice and more. Our program offering information is detailed and available on line at our web page and will even advise the prospect as to the anticipated cost of the program from start to finish. We are also regionally accredited through the North Central Assoc.. Our school serves the adult working population very well and our students may take classes either on line or at local campuses. Our student services are top notch so as to retain the student through graduation with the best customer service possible.

You are absolutely right. It is better to say to you need to find out rather than give misinformation.
As a new employee, I still have things to learn about my institution. However, the course has given me some valuable suggestions about what I need to know. I will be compiling a directory of employees as was suggested in the module so that everyone will be able to contact the person in charge of a department or course component. Having been a graduate of our school and now the Financial Aid Director and Executive Director I feel I have a wide range of knowledge and experience toward our school's rules, policies, and program that we offer as a school. It has been a great experience having the concerns as a student and then seeing the point of view from a staff member and understanding why things are expected the way they are from accreditation and enrollment procedures.
I was a student before becoming a staff member, so I have a unique perspective to provide to inquiries and applicants about schedules, curriculum and class assignments. Now, I am learning the organizational side, processes, and procedures. Each day is an opportunity to learn through questions asked by both current and future students.
