ARIELYS,
As Directors, we should be fully aware of the information provided to the student and how the students needs are met. Kudos to you!

Emily,
We must all be following the same path forward to compliance. This ensures the entire school is following the regulations but just as important, providing the same information to the student.

It is easy to apply Ethics to our admissions process when we place ourselves in our prospective student's position. The same questions your prospect students ask you are the ones you would ask if you are at the other side of the desk.
As a campus director, for me the way to ensure the admissions process is going correctly is being there when the information is being provided and follow up with the student and make sure he/she understood. Another way is having periodic meetings with the admissions personnel to make sure we all provide the same information.
Some efforts that can be carried out to ensure that an enrollment is being handled well are open communication with all departments and the student to address all questions and concerns throughout the process. Additionally, maintaining a presence throughout the process to ensure that all faculty and staff members are adhering to compliance issues.
Yamile,
Ethics is first and foremost. Compliance are our guidance.

Ethical practices have a positive effect in both, institutions and students. As an Admission representative, my first goal is providing accurate information to prospect students. Make sure that their expectations are synchronized with the reality. Be certain that the students meet admission requirement. Helping a person achieve success is my great satisfaction.
Sandra,
It is a win-win for all. Our students' success is based on a school that is well fit for their needs.
Patty Aronoff
Keri,
A wonderful post fully describing our responsibilities. We must be forthright, honest and ethical.
Patty Aronoff
Renate,
Admissions representatives are often monitored and coached in their interviews to make sure there is a clear understanding of their roles and information provided.
Patty Aronoff
Antonio,
This is a huge responsibility we have and we must perform with expert knowledge. We have a part in their future.

Compiance is simply risk management. CIE has now placed an enormous amount of guidelines on institutions to not only protect the consumer/students but also to protect the institutions from what i like to call back lash. Once we enroll and retain qualified students who can and will succeed from our programs offered, they will be prepared to easily pass state exams and successfully gain employment.
As an Admission Specialist at our College, I have always learned to keep professional, sound professional either face to face, by phone, or e-mail because we are the first face of school and we have steps to follow when enrolling students. We always try to learn to be a good listener to meet the standard requirements of student's needs. going from there we give all the paper work students need to bring to register, and we go over all the process then, like FAFSA application, Health Physical form, and a clean Back ground Check. We try to work all departments in TEAM to make sure the student qualifies and feel comfortable that our College is going to be their second home as long as the career lasts.
Unfortunately and fortunately many infractions of compliance and ethical lines have been crossed. These infractions by institutions have created more restrictions that are managed, which not only requires better practices, but reinforces them for institutions and consumers.
As a Director of Admissions at an institution, not only is ongoing compliance and product knowledge training provided, but there are measures in place to ensure that rules and regulations are being followed and our Admissions Representatives are providing accurate information. Documentation is there as well as disciplinary processes for any infractions found through interview sit-ins, ongoing surveys and one on one final enrollment meetings with myself for any prospective student. All measures are in place to protect the organization as well as the consumer themselves. Every organization wants to grow, but we do not risk our reputation as an organization and as an individual to get there. Let's face it, not every institution is for everyone, nor are all programs.
The people I hire, I hire because of their ethics and values, not based on sales. Growth and retention and a good reputation will come if you are doing the right thing. Our mission is to change the lives of our community in a positive manner.
We monitor our Admissions Representative because it is important to us to enroll well-informed and motivated students who will be successful in their studies.
Michael,
Excellent! When the student signs the enrollment agreement, they are signing that they have received and read a copy of the catalog.
Patty Aronoff
Jay,
Compliance should be our driving force. Compliance keeps everyone safe.
Patty Aronoff
We have worked hard to make compliance part of our every day culture here, with compliance meetings, listening/sitting in on each other's interviews and discussing boundaries with other departments, especially the financial aid staff.
Our staff takes the time to sit down with the student and go over all of the course requirements prior to enrollment. This includes items such as fingerprinting requirements, drug screens, medicals, grading, etc. If a student calls over the phone or contacts us via email, staff will advise the students of the same information and then request prospect student to come to come to our facility and meet with staff. Prior to any student enrolling in a program, they (the student) signs an agreement form that states they (the student) have read/been advised of what is required and that they acknowledge the program content.
Susan,
It is the best policy. If we withhold information it is misleading the student which is against the law.
Patty Aronoff
Transparency is the best policy for all parties involved in the compliant enrollment and matriculation of graduates.
