Reviewing advertising and marketing materials will insure compliance. Mistakes are made by all and advertising media is not exempt. A close review of new campaigns will quickly identify mistakes made by persons not on your staff or from your institution. Monitoring running advertisements will also help to guide you in the success of the campaign.
Our school currently has brochures and pamphlets as part of our marketing/advertisement. I believe it is extremely important to know everything in them. We do not use any type of other media to the best of my knowledge. We "advertise" by word of mouth.
I think that it is important to know the advertising material so that we can understand how that student became familiar with the school/program. I think by having an understanding of the overall process will produce and effective and educated agent. I know at times we do not fully understand how a lead has developed, but by knowing all the marketing and advertising techniques, we can understand it.
It's also important to review because of mispelled words. A few years ago I had a batch of marketing material come in and the city of our location was spelled wrong. It was immediately thrown out and re-printed.
It is extremely important to review your school's advertising and marketing material. If you say one thing, but advertisments say another, you lose credibility as a rep and are obviously aren't up to speed on information pertaining to your school.
John, I have always disliked incentives. I want to work with poeple who want to change their lives or assist others in doig the same. I like to idea of "paying it forward" with out the lack of a reward.
Knowing where you student gained their information/interest regarding your school can give you an insight as to where they are coming form. A student referred by another is likely a stronger candidate then one who was just watching TV. It also let's me know where they are coming from.
We need to know how our school is being represented to our potiential students, and how that might be interpreted by them. We are as responsible as our "Marketing Depts" to assure that we are in compliance with State guidlines.
You as an agent need to know what the advertisement is advertising. If a prospect calls in and ask for a "fee brochure" that your campy advertised on TV they would get, then you, the agent, needs to be prepaired to offer that brochure. It would make you look bad if you refused someone what the campany is advertising or acted like you didn't know what the prospect was talking about.
Making sure representateves are up to date with all printed marketing material is essential. When communicating with students it is important to maintain a uniform message. This creates better understanding between the students and the institution.
Effective and factual advertising and marketing is a must since it attracts potential students. One of the best rules of thumb is to KIS (Keep It Simple).
It is very inportant to compare to other schools ask students what they think about our advertising
It is important to know what your potential student is looking at that sparked an interest in your school. Then you will be better equiped to assist that person to the best of your ability.
When I know what grabbed the attention of my prospective student, and through what media, it allows me a window into what this person is looking for in their experience. Every person I interview is here for the same reason but are looking for different experiences. I can then tune in to specifics
I should know how the prospective student heard about the school and what they already know, so that I can best help them with the information they are seeking and what information they may not already know.
Yes I do, however, in the 3 years I've been iwth my college, I have never been informed of how the advertising is done.
For me, it is vital that I know how the prospective student found out about my school and what information they have so far, via the ad. If I am helping them without knowing what information that is out there, I sound pretty unreliable.
I think it is important to understand the marketing and advertising for a couple of reasons. First you will have a better understanding of where you students are hearing about your school and the demographics that they are reaching. It can also help thus to reach out to other groups who they may not be reaching in some way. It can also help in planning your schedule due to what to expect based on the need of the students if a new marketing mix is occuring.
I like to be prepared for ad response. If our latest TV commercial is promoting a particular program, I'll be prepared to get several responses per day for a particular program area.
Like everything , you need to always be updating your marketing and advertising material to reflect changes that are being made. This material is usually the first impression someone may have of your school, you need it to be eye appealing, accurate, up to date and to reflect the school's attitude. This will help the prospective student to get a good feel of who whey are and if this might be a good fit for them. Always be honest and let the door open for the future student.
