learning experience

Every time I take one of these courses I learn some valubale information that I can use to become a better instructor. That will help to give the student a much better experienc.

ED103

ED103 was an effective course for understanding the learning styles of adult students.  The course also emphasized the importance of formulating challenging questions as and aid for in-class instruction.  In addition, it was a good review of creating and implementing successful assessments.

Course content

This course was somewhat interesting. I always like finding new ways to motivate my students, however  I do feel the course could have more content on how to actually motivate students. A lot of seminars and workshops I have been to share the definitions behind motivation, but don’t actually share ideas of what we can actually do in the classroom that will benefit our students. I understand we need to make our students feel secure and autonomous but what are some examples to do this, what do other teachers do that works. I need the examples not the definitions.

Motivating our students

The course was very informative on how we can motive our student to be great learners. It also explained how we can understand and related to adult students.

ED102

I enjoyed this course, and i'm sure is going a help me to improve my class.

class management

We must maintain management of the classroom at all time. We must maintain a level of professionalism.

retention

I enjoyed this course. Retension is one of the most important parts of our job. We need our students to retain or what we are doing is pointless.

reinforcement

This course reinforced what I am already doing.

e111

I liked this course but I am having a hard time associating what I learned there with the type of course I am teaching...

technology

this class gave me some great ideas on how to take advantage of all the great technology we have at our finger tips. Im looking forward to trying some of the ideas out. Especially the desktop tutorials.

Ways of learning

I am aware of the ways students learn but was very interested in the comment of others. Visual is very important but I have always been able to read and learn very sucessfully. So I will have to concentrate more on the other options that we can use to learn and to study my students more to see how each students is able to accomplish a task.

ED113

I thought this class was interesting. It really showed me how to focus on the class and what things not to do. I realized what category i fall into and was so happy to find that i didnt fall into the wrong one. Excellent choice for a instructor teaching to all different aged adults.

Loved the Class

Hi Everyone,

This was a great class to understand the special needs of Adult students. It is important to be empathetic and be a "guide" by the side.  I really liked the practical tips given. It is important to keep learning about classroom management style and understand that it is an "art." It is important to evolve as an instructor and keep learning.

Ways of learning

I've studied much of this material before, but always find something important and relevant.  As I teach adult learners, I am constantly reminded that they need to be able to focus on the relevance of the course material as well as the content.  Teaching General Education in a career college is an additional challenge as my course is often seen as a requirement rather than a boost to their career choice.  Knowing how to collect feedback from students, how to encourage different ways of learning, and how to keep the material fresh and challenging has helped me create more of… >>>

ED112

The amount of knowledge acquired from this course is relevant to what is seen in today's classrooms. I personally see how security and autonomy plays a big role in motivating the students to learn different concepts while fulfilling their intrinsic needs. I have used extrinsic motivators such as eliminating the worst quiz grade and I have provide them with multiple choices on presenting their work. There is a need to maintain a balance between providing the aforementioned and achieving the learning objectives.

ED117

The course provided me with a clear understanding on generation Y and how the teaching methodology varies depending on the generation. I will be able to apply the concepts learned and incorporate them to my new upcoming class. I will accumulate the feedback data from my student's class evaluation and analyze how effective are the concepts applied.

The over all objective

I did get 2 pieces of information i could use in the classroom.  The overall course, i felt was not clearly defined nor was it easy to follow

102

I enjoyed the information and found it to be refreshing

Visual Aids

Found this interesting esp. for a small class.  I have 30 students and limited time to incorporate visual aids in the classroom but I can see the possibility in the skills lab.

ED 105

I enjoyed this course as it reinforced my strengths and weaknesses as an instructor.  Additionally, it assisted me with placing students at the forefront, chosing media, grading and evaluating student learning.  I found it to be very straightforward and thought provoking.
