ED 110

great cousre on stress and time management!!!! will benefit my class time for me and my students!!

ED105

I have just completed ED105 and it was a fun, enjoyable experience.  Please if you have the time please take this coursze it is worth your while.

Changing times

ED117 was very informative about the different learning styles of the generations. As I watch my own children grow I can see how their education is so much different than mine.

Getting to know your students

I will certainly spend more time getting to know my students background. I used it today with a student that always talks about another school he went to. I took the time to speak with him about the way they did things and how he could combine that with what he is doing now. It really gave him a better outlook and wasn't then comparing the two schools. That I learned in this course. It made all involved fill good.

ED105

It was a course that boiled down to the use of common sense in a lot of situations. I'm going to try to incorporate some of the things I learned in my everyday approach to teaching. There are so many ways to reach students but being able to identify all the personalities is a never ending process from what I see. We never stop learning.

The helper student

In most classes the students become friends because they are spending seven months together. I have had a few cases with an excelling student that some of the other students will come to for instruction. In most cases it is minor and not a problem but without hurting there feelings its hard to back them down sometimes when they help to much. Any suggestions on some approaches to this?

Cheating

In crowded classrooms how can you keep an eye on the cheaters? At what point can you call them out. You don't want to to disrupt the class. We have a lot of true false test. If you hand out different tests then it puts a strain on the grading time.

ED 102

I thought this coarse was great for me. I use a lot of the same tactics but wasn't aware of how important it was to know your students because they are all very different. They all take information in certain ways. The bit by bit and little chunks then putting them in action is going to be my focus. Reinforcement and then transference equals a student that is gaining confidence and trust in him self and the instructor.

ED 103 - Tests... and more tests!

ED 103 was very informative, although our tests at our school are already written for us, and we cannot modify them, so I felt it did not really apply to what we do here. Also I am the type of person that would much rather learn in a classroom environment, online schooling is a little tough for me to focus on, I do not enjoy staring at a computer screen for hours. I don't want this to sound negative, but I personally don't mind being honest and receiving feedback, it helps us make changes and make things better for the future.… >>>

ED105

I found the course well explainotry. I enjoyed as I went through the course. I think using marker/board is better than using power point. I'm math instructor and I can better explain my students on board rather than showing slides and explins.

teaching styles

I learned that I have many teaching styles I dont just do one was not so sure that was a good thing now I know it really benefits my students, to change it up depending on their needs.

Imposters/Noisy

The most helpful thing in the this course for me involved the examination of different learner profiles. I was actually dealing with several students at the time who fit the imposter and noisy student profiles. The course helped me to reexamine where these students might be coming from in their perspective. That shifted my paradigm and put me in a better place to coach them. I look forward to seeing how this scenario plays out. But results are likely to be more effective than if I'd simply ignored the situation or tried to strong-arm it.

Good Stuff!

stress

It's nice to know that i'm not alone when it comes to stress. I've learn good techniques to handle it

Setting the stage for success

This course was incredibly helpful for me. The suggestions and examples that were given were easy to apply, and I have already begun to see the benefit. I love the "minute paper" suggestion, what a great way to engage those who seem to be inattentive. Also answering the "what's in it for me" question has really helped me in how I approach and present the subject matter. This course is packed with so much helpful information, and I really enjoyed each session.

Dealing with students with learning disabilities

This was a very good course. The information in this course are applicable to most of the students in our school.

ED104

This was a great course. It aalowed me to refocus on startegies with dealing with students that are more difficult to instruct in class. I also enjoyed the information on mistakes that instructors make.

ED104

This class had excellent suggestions for  managing the difficult student (not that we ever have one :) )  I enjoyed (and took notes) on how to write a well written syllabus as well as common mistakes.  I am relatively new to teaching and have many years of clinical experience.  Bridging the gap has been exciting and challenging

Applying what was learned

The course material provided superb assistance for me in understanding more about the class dynamics. It appeared that whenever I completed a module, I was able to apply the acquired knowledge immediately in the class setting. I approached my work with greater confidence, because of my renewed teaching skills.

Great course

This is a great and should be required for new teachers. This course would save alot of time and heartache.

What type of teacher are you?

I really enjoyed this class becuase it helped me realize what type of instructor I am. I am a cross between a buddy and a guide; it depends on the class. I really notice in the classes where my buddy persona takes charge if it is not what this class needs. It is difficult to change midterm. It is a lot easier to start of strict and realease the hold a bit than to go the other way.

Also, I will admitt that I am not a very confrontational person, so I tend to let some "bad behaviors" slide when… >>>
