Taking advantage of classroom outing

This is the perfect time to see your student in there own world and know more about there indvidual personality. This makes placement for extern more easier since you have had the opportunity to see the student outside the classroom.

Field Trip

I feel that field trips not only add to the students learning, but gives them such a good opportunity to network.

Objectives in the Classroom

Objectives on the board helps to guide each student throughout the class session.

fairness in grading

Being fair and understanding with students goes along way. Students can have a great deal of stress over grades, so by providing them their graded exams quickly help to decrease this stress.

learning styles

Course content and learning styles have to be mangaged for all of the students to get the most from the material. when the content is to difficult for some students it might have to be presented a little differently for them to really grasp it.

Field Trip

I went on my very first field trip with my students just last week. It was positive as it broke the monotony of the classroom setting and also brought back some passion. It almost reset them and refocused on the main reason they are in school.

Organizational skills reflection of who we are

I believe that organizational skills are not only the result of education and training, but an extension of the person we really are as well.

Extra Credit

I am thinking that I should give extra credit more as a tool for work that is outside and additional to the required work and not because they did an exemplary job.

Pre-Testing

I think this helps those students who may have had a tough time with the reading portion of the class and tees up the material that I present.

evauluations

always keep your grade book current, give test back the next day.

making it interesting

changing groups size activities will help keep focus, keep it fun.

preparedness

you have to be prepared everyday from class, if not it sets an bad example for the entire class.

instructing

one must evaluate the class in order to see what style will fit the whole of the class.

colored paper

Using colored paper for handouts is a very practical but an effective method of making instructional materials easy to sort out by the students. It is a very good idea to use to break the "monotony" of the white paper. I will start using this. Thanks for a very nice tip.

Selecting instructional delivery methods

I teach court reporting students, so applying knowledge to skill is a very important part of their learning process. The message must be delivered through demonstration, total hands on. In the delivery, the steps must be organized and the presentation must be clean ( a clear understanding ). This is an area of learning where it's a tough call if the student will benefit from either instructional method mentioned. If I had to choose, I would probably choose the overhead.

Guest Speakers

In Career Colleges, a guest speaker is a very important factor for our students. Speakers that present their "testimony" of how they gained success, is like an " energy boost" for the student. I always like pros and cons from guest speakers . It outlines the whole picture of the career rather than just keeping it one sided. Two thumbs up for guest speakers.

Extra Credit

You have to make sure that it is offered to every student and not just the students with low test scores.

Inadequate Backgrounds

The instructor has to help the students to succeed in meeting the requirements of the programs. Lowering the requirements does not prepare them for future successes.

Power Points

Power points are great at attracting the students' attention.

Extra Credit!!

My class plays fun games like BINGO or Jeapoardy (information on the games detail what the contents if the class lessons are) and they recieve points for participation
