Preperation

Preperation is key to any presentation, knowing the subject matter in depth, inside and out helps in enteracting with my students. Pulling them into the lecture with information, and hands on seems to carry the most weight.

When is Feedback not appropriate

Can you all share with me at what point feedback should be avoided?

Practice your Presentation Skills

I enjoyed the organization tools at the end of the subjects. I know this will help me when I practice on my presentation skills. Being able to speak professionally in front of our students should be a high standard as instructors.

Zombies: Pistol or Rifle?

Part of my daily instruction involves critiques of food. People react differently to critical remarks about their cooking. It can be taken quite personally if not delivered in the proper manner. I always make sure the feedback is future-focused: Pick issues that can be reworked in the future. For example, feedback might be used to help a student make better choices for flavors or plate presentation.

Feedback

The key to giving or receiving feedback is an open door to communication. Second to that is the approcah used by the giver when delivering the feedback. Ultimately a consideration for the feelings of the receiver. Ocassionaly, managers forget to take into account the human side of their subordinates.

Presentation Skills

Presentation skills are both innate and learned. Speakers need to practice in order to develop their presentation skills and to loose the fear of presenting. Presenations can be a great tool when teaching new concepts and methods to students. a well design presentation with a balance mix of resources will created a long lasting impression on students aiding in the recall of learned materials.

Presentation

Regards, It is very important to capture the attention of the public in a presentation and give it to demonstrate that we are aware of the issue and trying to do everything to leave no slope incognita.

Suggestions for getting them all on the same page

I can get 95% of people on board when trying to get a group motivated, but I always have 2 or so that I can't reel in to the group. Last block I tried a new trick of placing one of them in charge of something very individual(walk in duty - putting things away, etc.) it worked, but as I thought - this really took a part of the team and moved him out of the building of the team. Or does it? any thoughts - is this a good idea?

Visual Aids are always helfpful

I teach a computer hardware class and when I can provide a physical example on the topic being presented; it helps my audience.

Key Idea.

Is very important develop a presentation idea to make a presentation.

Receiving onfo

I was taught by my mentor to talk the language of the receiever. In addition, look for nonverbal cues in regards to the receiver understanding the message. This allows for the speaker to rephrase if a signal of confusion was sent. Many people will not say they do not understand, but will sent nonverbal messages or innuendos.

Effective communication

This is a well presented topic. There is no doubt that effective communication is essential to enhance productivity. Most work environment problems arise from inappropriate or ineffective communication, as such like the tutorial implys, timing and method in communication is key. Another essential element in effective communication is feedback. A communication method that is not sensitive to feedback would have no room for improvement and may be counter productive

coaching

When coaching is needed or if coaching will be accepted by the individual? I think this is very difficult to know.

Presenting points

Having more points with less detail of each and allowing more questions in between may help an audience stay more alert and focused.

Why Coach?

One of the benefits of coaching is to maximize staff members potential and help them achieve individual goals.

Good Information

This was a good training for those of use who are currently as official supervisor roles as well as those of use who are supervisor/managing classroom online or in traditional settings. Much of the information I have learned before but found this training to be a great refresher and highlight for me the applicability of the various techniques and information in an online class environment.

skills

Skills are very important issue when dealing with students.because the diversity, people from different cultures, make more challenging when it came to deal with it , also when we find students with bad attitude.

Situational Leadership Coaching Model

At my workplace, we use the Situational Leadership coaching model. I have weekly one-on-ones with my team members, who come prepared with their list of topics to discuss broken down in terms of how much assistance they need. For example, a D-1 topic would be one that requires a lot of direction and informatoin whereas a D4 topic would be one they just want to share with me or update me on. There is also a section on the form for "next steps by you (the coachee)" and "next steps by your leader." This is helpful in keeping track of what we each are committing to after our session. So far, I have had good results with my team. Recently, however, I had a new team member added, who was previously reporting to another director, who did not follow this style of coaching/"checking in" with his team members. She was very resistant to the idea of doing this indicating that she has nothing to talk about and felt it would be a waste of time. My goal is ultimately to provide my team members dedicated time to get their needs met amidst our hectic daily schedules. Any suggestions for promoting "buy-in" to this model or adapting this model to better fit her needs would be greatly appreciated.

Who needs what and who's asking?

many times communication is dropped. To achieve greater goals you need to do your homework first on a topic, then gather information. Then you need to choose your audience and who will be the most effective. Once you choose your audience you need to gear your presentation to with all the learning styles.
