Should Feedback be Negative....NO!

I would be interested to hear the case for 'banning' the word NEGATIVE when giving or dicussing feedback, In my view, feedback should either be positve of constructive, the latter used to correct behaviour. Welcome thoughts? David

Coaching & Mentoring

As an Executive Coach, its interesting to read the differences the programme gives between coaching and mentoring. Whilst I accept that the programme focus is on the role managers play in coaching, coaching itself fulfills a much greater need than just performance issues. I would be intyerested in how you might describe the difference between an external coach (one whose job it is to coach) and that of a manger (one whose job it is to manage performance). David

Presentation Skills

Career education instructors need to take in to account the type and skill level of students. The vast majority of students attending career education institutions fall under the classification of nontraditional students and as such we need to tailor our presentation skills towards their learning abilities. Most of these students have been out of the classroom for a large period of time which creates a difficulty as they may have loss a large percentage of their basic skills, namely, reading, math, language handling. Our presentations need to be tailor in such a way as to enable us to reach all our students and allow them to attaint the program learning goals.

Meetings

it is a good practice to recap with what was discussed at the prior meeting. Also is a good practice to get the thumbs up for a decision making.

Body language

As an executive I am trained to view everything about a person. Many times you only have one minute or less to make an accurate decision about a person or their verbal content so it is very important to take everything into consideration. Sometimes one can mask their motive in words however, body language is the nonverbal attribute that can tell it all!
