Information!

I really enjoyed the information that I learned.I felt like it was very informative and it will really make me a better enrollment specialist. I am glad that for profit schools are finally trying to change the manner in which we assist our students during the admission's process.Good deal!

Transfer or not to Transfer that is the Question?

Credits are a huge part of our admissions process. Typically our students are career students that have finally decided what program is right for them. Sadly all in the years they spent at one or more schools credits may not transfer in, causing them to start all over and lose motivation.

Knowing Your Product

In order to give an informative interview, all admissions persons should be aware of their institutions and its offerings. its important to have a training that reflects that and weekly staff meetings to provide updates and changes being made.

Relating to your students

It is important to listen to your students needs/fears/passions. These are all clues to further asist them in their ideal program.

Definition of Agent vs. Employee

I work off site for my institution-but all my work is done through the institution email and phone system just as if I was physically there. The students would come to the institution (not me) looking for information or to enroll. I provide them with that information and also enroll them. Would I be considered an agent?

Institution is being developed

My institution is just starting to be developed as a college-we have not yet submitted our paperwork to the Commission for approval/accreditation. Apparently one of the requirements is that we have an admissions person who has successfully passed this course. Is that true? I have no background in formal college type admissions. My background for the institution I work for has been to process applications for our summer programs for youth and also our adult education programs. I believe this course will not only help me with that but also once my institution is accredited. Is it important that I be involved in this development of a new institution?

Regulatory Requirements

I have to make sure I'm following the consumer policies and make sure I am giving accurate information to students who inqure and enroll in our College. I also want to make sure that I am not promising a job or anything that we do not offer.

State Rules and Regulations

I am learning the guidelines from my Director and my immediate supervisor. I learn best by reading it and seeing it first hand so the website is also a helpful tool.

Paperwork

All the Paperwork for our Admissions process is routed to our admissions team as we are Advisors. The Certifications and Transcripts go to our Admissions team. If I print something for a student I store it in file folders at my desk.

Teaching homeless individuals.

As a faith-based social service organization, we feel compelled to open our school doors to everyone, regardless of their financial status or lack thereof. And, since we cannot waive the fees for some and charge others, we decided to have a free tuition policy for all, resulting in a noble mission but in a school being broke (by choice I admit). Are there any suggestions?

Consistency or inconsistencies allowed?

Our institution focuses and enrolls primarily individuals who are mentally challenged (as per our mission statement as a social service agency). The modules repeatedly warn against inconsistencies regarding what can be perceived as discrimination or favoritism. Is there anything inappropriate with being overly patient, overly aware of confidentiality issues, or even extremely forgiving(i-e understanding adverse side effects caused by medications ingestion, excusing authorized absences and crisis hospitalizations), which may require make-up lectures/exams for example, or even, in certain cases, postponement of graduation?

Motivating Students

Students sometimes have to have more information on what types of opportunities may await them after completing their program. There are many other opportunities for people in the beauty field besides salons, such as media, fashion, film and medical.

Institution compliance.

Is it necessary for all university to have compliance department to monitor behavior of admissions and other department?
