Career Colleges vs. State Schools

This training suggests that it is geared towards career colleges. Career colleges seem under constant attack, although there has been bad press on various state schools. I am curious as to the rules for licensure and compliancy for state schools?

Discussing Financial Aid

The Financial Aid section was rather vague on the rules and regulations from a compliancy standpoint on what we are able to discuss and what we aren't able to discuss. In addition, what questions we are not permitted to ask them in an interview including salary history, dependency related questions, etc. I was under the idea that Admissions Representatives weren't permitted to elaborate on some of the financial aid topics. I've always referred them to the "all-knowing" Financial Aid Representatives to ensure that they receive the most accurate information and avoid anything remotely close to eligibility questions. Any further clarification available?

Resource Notebook...setting it up or updating?

I had the quiz and thought that the most effort and time spent on a resource notebook or file was setting up but after reading the feedback I discovered that Florida Regulations change constatly and it is quite an effort to keep everything up to date. Now, to me it is much easier to update my notebook instead of starting one. For the simple fact that just applying the new regulations, requirements, ect...........

The importance of the admissions dep training

I have been working for a post secondary education institution and we always were aware about all these regulations but not until know I realize how important and how many details we need to be conscious about. This training so far has helped me understand more about my institution and how my accurate performance will influence our look.

Website

I think it is important to keep your website up-to-date and provide information on the website. It doesn't sit well with some people if they can't find information they want/need. In this age of technology, a lot of our leads are internet based. Internet leads typically want information NOW... and providing this on the website will quench their thirst.

Where do you suggest we find accurate and detailed info on careers for the programs offered at a school?

Resource Notebook

I have been working as an Admissions Representative for 4 years. I have used many guide books and training notebooks. The one that this course designates is the most complete notebook in every sense. It is going to be a great tool for me and I feel that by having it I will be informed and have at my disposal any information that a prospective student or family member may ask me regarding the school that I represent.

The Agent's Requirements

There is alot to know. Where is the training located that agents have to take? It could be beneficial for all at the school not just agents that are away.

Your Own Knowledge

I feel my IMMEDIATE recall of institutional knowledge is a 9 out of 10. I keep my resource book handy when I am uncertain about a policy or procedure. I expect my immediate knowledge to always be at a 9 out of 10 because our institution is a living, breathing organization -- growing, maturing and refining our programs, policies and procedures over time. So I expect that there will always be some piece of information that I just wont be able to put my finger on at a moment's notice. I'm comfortable with that but only because I intend to have that information available in my resource book.

Organizing the Paperwork

Just as suggested with the binder and dividers. and chap 1005 in the front of the binder. The rules I keep in a sperate smaller binder because I refer to them fairly frequently

The Resource Notebook

Part A: In my resource book, I have included the florida statues and the florida administrative code as it relates to the CIE, Agents, and Post Secondary Institutions at the suggestion of this course. I have also included the following information relevant to our institution: 1. staff, faculty, and administrative staff contact info and schedules 2. upcoming start and graduation dates of our programs 3. contact information for the massage licensing board 4. florida statues as they relate to the massage therapy licensure and practice 5. institution tuition and financial aid information 6. state regulation guide for massage therapy licensure 7. financial aid policies and procedures as they relate to both the federal government and our institution 8. institution policy and procedures 9. institution standard operating procedures 10. enrollment agreement 11. massage certification examination testing policies 12. massage therapy board meeting minutes. 13. standard operating procedures for working with the VA 14. standard operating procedures for working with americorps 15. copies of ads and marketing materials 16. current catalog 17. current catalog addenda Part B: I was not aware of the selection criteria and licensing requirements for the Agents. I am concerned that either the admissions representative position does not meet the criteria for Agent, or we are not following proper procedure. I am hopeful (and fairly certain) it is the former and that this course was suggested to me as an opportunity to improve my general skills and knowledge base. (smile)
