Sets a good example for the students. If you are prepared, you look more professional, hopefully they will see the importance in being prepared, not only for class but in the real world

Besides the fact that being organized builds your students’ confidence in you as their instructor, it’s also much less stressful for you on a general day to day basis – and that is very important in the long run.

If I do not come prepared the students can see that and it starts us off on a bad note that can set the tone for the rest of the class.

Being organized and prepared to teach is basic to the teaching profession. It is obligatory and a must. By being organized and prepared, it also allows us to incorporate new trends, thoughts and ways in our field.

It is essential for an instructor to organize and prepare for each class period so that the students feel confident in the instructor and so the instructor keeps control of the class structure.

We are modeling organization for our students. It is unreasonable to expect them to be organized, if we are not.

It gives focus to the day and days to come. It brings everyone in the class to the same place.

Hello,
Being organized and prepared says a lot to a group of students. I remember that a lead instructor of a seminar we were to attend was outside the building, welcoming his group of teachers with a smile and a handshake. He could afford the time for this because his space and materials were well ready and waiting. We felt good as we came in knowing he was serious about making it a great experience. --Gary O. It is really important to be prepared for class. The students must see that we have a goal has been set for them. We a path for success. We must be organized. When we have materials ready, we can help the students learn the information they need to work in the field of their choice. We can also show how being prepared and organized is really important in the work place.

Hi Kristin:
Additionally, what message does it send the student when we are disorganized. Possibly, it may suggest "I don't care enough about your learning to be organized", which might result in creating a serious long-term negative impact in the learning relationship.

Hi Nancy:
This is especially true. In general, what kind of message does it send to the student if the instructor is disorganized? In this situation, will it send the message "I care about your learning"?

Regards, Barry

Being organized and prepared you will gain student confidence, and you also set an example of how a professional should conduct business.

If the instructor is organized and prepared for class, the students will be more comfortable in the learning environment, and better able to absorb the information they need. In addition, if the instructor is constantly unprepared and disorganized, it sends a message to the students that this type of behavior is normal and acceptable, and this will be detrimental to them in their future careers. We need to teach them how important it is to be organized and prepared in every aspect of their professional lives.

Hi Rosemarie:
Right! And, what kind of message does it send the student when an instructor is disorganized? It may suggest to the student "I don't care enough about your outcomes", which can irreparably damage the learning relationship.

Hi Sandy:
In other words, the student may develop a loss of respect for the instructor in this situation, and this loss of credibility may translate into a negative impact to that learning relationship.

Hi Jodi:
Students may lose confiedence in the instructor who is disorganized. With this loss of credibility, the student may tune out and miss something very important.

Hi Mary Jane:
Very true - if we are disorganized, we may unintentionally send the student the message "I don't care about your outcome", which can be detrimental to that learning relationship.

Hi Beverly:
You make a strong point about adult expectations. When we as instructors are disorganized, it may send the message that we don't care enough about the students to adequately prepare for them. No instructor means to send that message, but that may be what happens.

Regards, Barry

Hi Dennis:
Exactly! It sends such a bad message to the students when this occurs. It's almost as if the instructor is unintentionally saying "I don't care enough about your learning to prepare".

Regards, Barry

Hi Sharon:
The nice thing about coming across organized is that it suggests to the student you care enough about their learning outcomes, that you have prepared to deliver the information is a concise manner.
