I have a mug that reads "Anything is possible" and if I didn't believe that, I wouldn't be very effective in education.
Education makes "anything possible" for our students--this is where they make changes, they practice the changes they are making, and they receive useful feedback from their instructors--those who have been successful in the students' desired field.
What an amazing opportunity we have to witness this in our students--to watch that change from timid, often usure students to confident, well-trained professionals.
The goal is to make them into a productive person out in the work force. We are helping them learn good reasoning and common sense to be able to be a productive person in their job.
Having worked in numerous offices and now teaching business software classes, I strive to educate students in such a way that they are prepared for as many different business scenarios as possible. In other words, I teach students with the goal of readying them for the diverse office environments that they are likely to encounter after graduating.

Educationg student is a rewardng endeavor. Studenteds sometimes do not appreciate the time and effort instructors devote to instructinal design. Capturing a student's attention is difficult but it is even harder to keep their attention. Online instructors must employ inovative classroom techniques with well desinged course material to meet the expectations of todays student population.

Goal of educating students is determined by their specific goals. It's always a great idea to have a one on one sit down with every student and lay out there responsibilities for a course and then ask them their personal goals so you can help them shape it into a reality.
