Hi Caren:
I think you've defined the goals very well.
Regards, Barry
Hi John:
Good. Giving currnt knowledge is part of it, but also training students to be critical thinkers so they take that information further is part of the goal as well. If we can apply it to a profession or career choice, all the better.
Regards, Barry
Educating students must be a sharing of your knowledge. It's not just about laying a foundation of various theories but nurturing the student with your experience. Helping to instill confidence with what they learn. Making them aware that learning is a lifelong process.
Hi Rebecca:
Excellent!. Passing on what we know is the start, but ultimatly the next generation will be responsible to take their profession to new levels, and that can't happen using existing knowledge. But we can create the desire, the passion, and the drive to achieve more. With that attitude, I'm confident they will.

Hi Kimberly:
Yes - and new concepts often involve whole skills, tasks, procedures, and information that can only be learned in a special course designed to teach these career-oriented worker traits. So, that is also part of the definition as well.

Hi Larry:
Good thoughts. I believe preparing students with useable knowledge applicable to a trade or career is at least a part of thye goal we're trying achieve. One mesure of that is why students enroll in our schools nd programs, to get a better joband provide a better future for themselves and their families.

Hi John:
I agree about your main point, capable instruction requires capable instructors. Being creative, relating to students as individuals, and having a desiure to help students learn are basic tenets that just about anyone can learn to master.
Regards, Barry
Hi Carlos:
Yes - sometimes it takes multiple lessons, repeated practice, and revisiting an idea before t begins to make sense. It's rare a student can learn some concepts in one lesson, although some smaler steps leading to the big picyture may be possible.

My goal for educating students is to give them the tools they need to carry them forward in their careers. Not just the physical skills that they will need but the problem solving and soft skills that they will really need to succeed.
The goal of educating students is to make our students better prepared to facing problems in the real world. It is important to educate these
students fully so that they contribute to the future of our society.
My goal is to help prepare them for the future by encouraging them to think. Education is more than memorization. We need to help them to understand the principles, rather then memorize the material.
The goal of educating students is to assist the students in obtaining the ability to apply new materials or concepts learned to their field of study.
In my mind the goal of educating students is prepareing them to think for themselves in a work environment. The knowledge presented in the classroom is preperation, the information in the book is theory and worjing in a real job is actualizing all of this together through thier won thoughts and actions.
My main objective is always to create a conducive learning environment for everyone. Learning will not take place unless everyone in the class is able to understand what and how you are teaching. I can be a wealth of knowledge but I am useless if I am not a capable instructor. In
my kitchen classes it is not to hard to create different teaching teckniques at different groups in the same class. Some of our teaching is for the students to be able to analize their situation depending on the menu and organize their situation to produce the menu effectivly.
This is when the instructor will intervein and make adjustments for the group or individual student. I also find that when students are givin some creative freedom they become much more agressive with the learnig process. Creating a conducive learing environment and getting the students to want to learn is half of the battle or more than half. These are the goals that I address first and think most important.
I believe that facilitating the comprehension of a concept leads to the AHAAAAAA arena. With the concept under their belt they have a stronger handle on each skill that they apply. They have a better feel for the cause & effect because they begin to look for the effect.

Hi LaurieAnn:
This wold be a terrific outcome to attain. I think, simply stated, transfering my knowledge to the student with a skillthat can be applied in theworkplace defines it for me.

Hi Andrew:
Good answer! I believe it's our duty to share the sum of our years of working experiences, education, training, and life experiences to possibly avoid students having to experience the same mistakes we made, and advancing the next generation. I feel we've failed as teachers if we don't aspire to do this.
Regards, Barry
Hi Mark:
Yes, a simple definition, but fairly accurate in my opinion. We want to be able to transfer what we know to our students who will soon become the next generation of workers. So training them withthe knowledge and skills that will prepare them might b an alternate way of stating "the goal".
Regards, Barry
To give people skills and knowledge they did not have before.
