Goal of educating students
What is the goal of educating students?
Bridget,
Yes understanding is one of the top goals, along with practical application, skills (if applicable), and professional readiness.
Barry Westling
The goal of educating my students is- to the best of my ability to pass on information in a way that is understood by all of the students. Sometimes certain students are identified to have special needs. In this situation the sooner these students are identified, the better the outcome.
James,
Good way to reinforce the importance of their education and work expectations.

Lawrence,
Yes. Work expectations requires students to know the job duties and act in a professional manner, often skills students arrive to us lacking in.

As an automotive instructor i always remind my students that the vehicles they work on when the get into the real world will be on the same roads their children are on. therefore take every oppertunity to make the best of there learning and dont be afraid to ask questions, the question unasked in my industry could cause a safey problem down the road.
To prepare and develop the students ability to use their knowledge in the professional world
Shawn ,
True, and I feel we have to even create the goals (or vision) for some students along with achieving them. Some students may have only limited expecatations of what their education can provide them. Good instructors open up new horizons that students can aspire to achieve, then provide the education that makes it a reality.
Barry Westling
Helping them to gain knowledge that will help them achive their goals.
Karen,
Yes, if we are training students for a particular career setting, they will need the skills, knowledge and critical thinking ability that gets them a job and helps them keep it.
Barry Westling
Carlos,
For me, respectable student outcomes include proficiency with the knowledge, skills, and practical application that prepares students for meaningful and successful job opportunities.

The goal is to prepare the student to be successful in the career path they have chosen. They need the knowledge and the hands on skills to be able to compete in the job market.
To make us that the students get the most out of the education they are striving for. It is only fair
Hayvelises,
Yes, first and foremost, we want our graduates ready for the work setting. If we can do that and create better citizens in the process, we will have achieved something good
Barry Westling
It's to provided the techniques, knowledge, strategies that will prepare to face their future.
Ashpreet,
It's been said "We haven't taught if students haven't learned". Yes, if we provide a good education, we will have helped our students in both their personal lives and their professional work readiness.
Barry Westling
I agree, my goal is to not only give my students the confidence they need by education them for their career but giving them knowledge to apply to real life matters. Another goal of mine is to push them to continue their education. I can not stress enough to my students how important education is. I often get questions such as when will I ever use this in the field? I have to stop and say the should be our only goal. The goal of education is to not only learn but to become knowledgeable.
Janet,
Yes, we want our students to be able to learn, graduate, and get and keep a job. When this all comes together, we have achieved success.
Barry Westling
To give them the tools to be successful with their knowledge in career
David,
Right. That encompasses a lot of things (skill, knowledge, etc), but ultimately we want our graduates to be as near to job ready as possible when they finish up.
