I find it best to use different learning methods first a powerpoint with some added "tidibits" of info related to the subject to spark their interest. Then a demo on the subject followed up by them duplicating the demo with a hands on activiy
I like to teach my students through power points that cover the subject but also bring in some examples from other resources like the internet and interesting little facts that peak their interest in the subject and always try to do it in a humorous type of style to keep their attention. Then we move on to a Demo where they can actually see an example of what they learned followed up by them actually doing what I did in the demo truly hands on learing
The main benefit of knowing students learning styles, is an inward look of your own delivery method/s, for every 20 mins there should be a change, reaching out too the different learning style categories. This is very useful knowledge to the instructor, using the many different styles for everyday different tempo ( mins ), this gives the instructor many roads to go down depending on the bonding going on moment to moment.
Hi Jacquie, Thanks for sharing examples of mixing delivery formats. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

It is definitely helpful to know. I do a survey at the beginning of each course to understand my students' learning styles and then I curtail my course according to what the majority of the class likes. I also add all other learning styles as well but just change as needed. For instance if my class is more kinesthetic I bring equipment in during lecture instead of waiting until lab. If I have a visual class I add more videos to my lectures. It really helps and is fun as well!
By teaching different learning styles it helps everyone to learn in a comfortable atmosphere and it keeps the lesson fresh by changing from spoken to auditory and kinetic styles.
Every class I teach, I use a combination of verbal lecture, power-point presentation, and use of the white board to draw pictures or diagrams. For lab, there is time for hands on where the students can demonstrate their knowledge and tactile skills. In the end, I can evaluate their learning and application, and they succeed as well.

You have to make sure you understand the learning styles, or your information may not sinking in. Not only do you need to know how to figure out their learning styles, but you need to be able to evaluate them to know that they are retaining the information and if not, know what needs to be changed in order for the information to be understood and remembered.
Hi Angela, Thanks for your post to the forum. Teaching to the learning styles can also keep instructors engaged and avoids "burnout".

I am a clinical instructor, therefore most of my teaching is tactile. However, I feel after reading through module I there are ways that I can include other learning styles during clinical application.
The instructional benefits of knowing the learning styles of your students are keeping the students engaged and active during the learning process. It also allows for 100% of your students to learn the material versus only half to 60%. This knowledge can be used to make me a more effective instructor as it is giving me the opportunity to make class interesting to all of the students and gives the class their opportunity to learn their desired way as well as exploring other ways to take in information.
Hi Angie, Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree and also try to incorporate multiple delivery options into my classes.

I try to present to the class the information in as many ways as possible. I definitely will try to assess each new group to find out their personal preferences.
Being able to know the learning styles of your students enables the instructor to use different delivery methods. Our classes have a variety of individuals that are of varying ages. Each one of these students learn differently. I think the best approach is to try all methods. Some learn better simply being read to or reading themselves. Others are more hands on. Since everyone is so different using different approaches can be very beneficial. Having a better understanding of each student learns different allows myself the ability to understand each student better.
Our faculty uses a questionnaire during orientation to determine the learning style of each student. The class is then set up to instruct using the various methods of learning .
