I totally agree. You can be an excellent Instructor but if you cannot get this information through to your students it does not matter what learning style that you use.

If I understand how my students best learn , they I will have a better understanding of how the information will best be delivered. I then can prepare better lessons and activities that are geared towards my specific classof students.

Students learn most effectively when the strategies used are closely matched with their preferred learning style. Instructors can tweak their instructor methods to reach more students. This may involved teaching the same material a couple different ways to maximize learning.

I often try to make it a point to start a discussion of this by pointing out my own learning style combination, then giving a learning style survey to the class. (This is a natural in an Introduction to College course or a Psychology or Interpersonal Relations course.) The feedback I get will often influence my lesson plans afterward.

I believe that by knowing your student's learning styles, one can adjust accordingly their teaching techniques in order to increase attention retention, participation, and knowledge on the student's part

I feel it is important to know the learning styles of your students in order to keep the attention of the entire class. I teach a practice management program and I need to use different learning styles to keep everyone on the same page.

Generally, low performing students will do 10-15% better in class, as well as the more accomplished students. Knowing the different learning styles within a new software class is especially key. I have found that using only one way of presenting this kind of material has yielded poor results.

I believe there are many benefits to knowing the learning styles of my students. The first and foremost is the fact that by knowing their learning styles I can make sure that I incorporate every students learning style into my teaching methods. Second it benefits the students to receive the same information in different ways. It may not always be presented in their specific learning style so they should become comfortable with all types of learning styles to be a well rounded student.

This knowledge helps me become a more effective instructor by allowing me to bring in multiple methods of teaching into a single class period. I have labs associated with my class and so I normally deliver my class information in lecture form with a power point presentation. I make sure that there multiple pictures or videos for the students to watch/see and if I have any equipment/lab materials I can bring into class I do that as well. Then after the lecture part of class is over we move in to the laboratory portion of the course. It is all hands on. I will demonstrate and talk them through what it is they need to do then it is their turn. I observe, correct when needed, or answer any question they have.

Yes i have found it quite helpful to give learning assesments at the beginning of new classes

I like to think I have gotten pretty good at figuring out and using my student's different learning styles. I make it a point to use training aids that some more relate to, and always go through all the text/pictures with the powerpoint presentation to hammer it home. I feel it reaches a broader audience doing it this way.

I feel that it is veery important to know and learn your students learning styles. It makes it easier to delivery material in class in a way for eveyone to learn.
