By listening to our students needs, questions, feelings, etc. it can give us a better understanding of how we can improve our teaching abilities for that particular individual.

Matthew,
Right you are. This is why we need to get ongoing feedback from our students so we can make adjustments as needed to keep our course on target and our students moving forward in their learning.

The feedback helps us see where we can improve with different learning for students and assure they are understanding the course

Rita,
Like this approach as it gets the students in a reflective mode as they complete the session. They will remember what they encountered which will serve them well as they move through their training.

I always like to ask my students after a clinical session what was the best thing they learned from the clinical session with a patient they just completed

Robert,
In what way?

in can help you in areas you are weak in

Jacquelin,
I use them a lot in my classes because I can do a quick class survey and get feedback without taking a lot of class time. I don't think end of course formal course evaluations provide the type of feedback I am looking for to improve my instructional delivery.

I really enjoyed the concepts of using 3x5 index cards as a tool I think it is important to get feedback so that you can work on bettering your presentation of the material and make sure to evolve within the course.

Glenn,
This is how course improvement is brought about. The more input we can get the more ideas we have about how to make adjustments in our instruction.

It can serve as an important checkpoint for your effectiveness in teaching the class.

Sheila,
This is how instructional improvement occurs. We need to receive and consider student feedback on a regular basis and then make any needed adjustments.

Must be truly open to WHAT the students needs are so student feedback is Essential!!! I often ask students: What can I do or provide that would more helpful or meaningful to their learning experience and utilize their feedback to refocus content or strategies to meet those needs.

Manuel,
This is how course improvement is made. The more input we have the more information we have from which we can make revisions in our courses to be even more effective in our instruction.

The student feedback can help the instructor improve on the way of teaching the material and maybe other points of view to address the material.

Joan,
This is the approach I follow and I get some great information as a result. These input sessions really help with instructional improvement. Thanks for bringing this strategy up in your comments.

Robert,
Student feedback is how we improve our instruction and increase our effectiveness. Without student input we would not know how we can adjust our instructional delivery and thus would continue to follow the same routine.

I often ask students if they felt a project was useful or not. I let them know their input affects the structure of the class

At the end of my class, I always ask students for feedback (outside of the student surveys they complete). I ask what they though went well and what didn't go well or asked what they liked or didn't like about the class. I have found this helpful in planning for future classes. I also may do something similar earlier in the class if I sense that students seem to be losing interest - what works for one class doesn't always work for another class and being able to shift gears based on feedback helps to bring the interest of the students back around.

I use student feedback to gauge how well the students are comprehending the material I am presenting. I also use feedback to improve my methods of instruction. What worked and what didn't.
