Getting student feedback allows me to gage how much they are retaining during each lesson. If a student does not domonstrate understanding of the material, this will allow me to cover the information again with the student.
Shane,
It is essential for continued growth as an educator. There is always something we can do to improve our courses so the more feedback we get them more knowledge we will have on what to do.

Student feedback is very important because this will tell you as the instructor if you need to modify the syllabus and focus on the needs of the students.
Harold,
Respect needs to be two way, in that the instructor needs to earn the respect of students and students in turn earn the respect of the instructor. Once respect is established then rapport can begin to develop and a great relationship can be established with the students.

Katie,
This is such an important part of the teaching process. Good questions and ongoing feedback both contribute to the refinement of your instructional delivery.

It is important for the students to feel respected. The same way we constantly give them feedback, the same way we can better ourselves as instructors with their own feedback.
It is import to ask your students detailed questions. If you just ask them if they understand most of the time they will says yes even when they don't.It is the job of the instructor to make sure the students understand. When you get feedback you can tell if they really understand the topic.
Dean,
Good point. Instructors need to bring passion for their content and enthusiasm for teaching to each and every class they meet. If they don't it is for sure the students won't be excited either.

Not only focus on the students but as Education Director you can use that as a guage as to how well your instructors are doing. Are they bringing that excitment to class every day?
Dean
Maksuda,
I use student feedback to help me improve my courses on a regular basis. I have my students fill out a 3X5 card after they have completed an assignment. I ask them what they got out of the assignment and what value they attach to their effort. This way I know how to adjust my requirements to make sure I am assigning work that is valued by the students.

I think Student feedback can help a lot to keep me focused. Student feedback shows me what I missed and can do better. After every exam, I ask what they thought about the exam, and what parts were easy and hard. When they say something was easy, I tell them that they did great, if they say a certain part was very difficult, I make class time to go over it again. Going over the easy and hard, shows me and them what they have accomplished and what we still have to learn.
Reza,
This is the value of student feedback. You can make adjustments as needed to keep them engaged and the course moving forward.

Connie,
Two good points at which to take a reading of the class. The mid point reading is good because we can still make adjustments if needed to make sure the course remains on target and progressing as it should.

feedback from students First it shows your course is exciting or not for your student if is not then you can change teaching method somehow to be exited and if it is grab attentions' students it encourage you.
Student feedback at midpoint helps us identify strengths and weaknesses thus allows us to refocus and/or implement corrective actions. Feedback at the conclusion allows us to determine whether students feel that we succeeded.
Andrea,
Student feedback is important because it helps us to improve our instructional skills while giving them a feeling of importance in relation to the value they bring to the class.

It gives the students an opportunity to vioce how they view assignments. I think it makes them feel like the focus IS on them!
Holli,
Good point. We need to get ongoing feedback from our students so we can know if we are hitting our mark with their instruction.

Student feedback can help instructors bridge the gap between what they think is being well-received by students and what is actually being well-received.
Luanna,
This is an interesting approach. I think the "checking" allows an instructor to understand the pulse of his or her class.
