I try to have converstations with my students about material on an ongoing basis. This type of feedback offered is more honest rthan a survey form at the end of the class.

Cheryl,
Student feedback is how we improve. The more input we can get the more we learn what we are doing well and where we need to improve.

Student feed back is very important to help you understand what they are actually learning, understanding and how you can better help them in their educational quest.

Ray,
Feedback on a regular basis helps to share the outcome of the course for students. Knowing where they are at in the course and what they need to work on gives them direction in their studies and enhances their success opportunities.

I provide feedback to my students so they can show me through interaction what they have areas of imporvement on. In addition, this provides the student with a awareness of where they stand in the class

Kathleen,
Student feedback is how we bring about instructional improvement. I have my students give me feedback throughout the course so I can make real time adjustments if needed. This improves the course as well as shows the students that I am listening to and respective of their input.

The purpose of teaching is for the students to learn. Therefore student feedback and what it working or not can be very beneficial to help you adapt and be felxbile in how you are delivering the information to best help them to learn. Evey individual is different and therefore every cohort of people is different in how they will best learn. Asking for feedback also makes the students feels important and empowers them, which further increases their motivation to learn.

Sarah,
Student feedback is what shapes our instructional improvement. The more input we have from our students the better we can adapt and modify our efforts to be even more effective in our teaching.

Student feedback is just as important as instructor feedback. It allows the instructor an insight on what is working and not working in the course. This also allows the instructor to change up the teaching style if needed to.

Dr. Kipp,
Like the way you are working to keep your finger on the pulse of your students and their status in the class. This is how you maintain their focus and keep them engaged for the duration of the course.

or every class, I use a classroom assessment technique (i.e. one-sentence summary, chain notes, classroom opinion polls). It assists me in understanding how students learn and how they respond to particular instructional approaches. In addition, classroom assessment techniques assists me in understanding how much and how well students are learning. I can then refocus my teaching to help students learn more efficiently and effectively.

Tracy,
I do the same in my classes because I don't value the mid-term and end-term surveys. They are so formal and with standard questions that don't give me the input I am seeking to really refine my course. I use frequent feedback from my students so I can make any adjustments needed while the course is ongoing.

Even though or company has mid-term and end-term surveys, I make sure to somehow get individual feedback through personal conversation throughout both terms. It also helps me build rapport with each individual student and they feel more comfortable being honest with me face to face.

David,
Good plan to follow. This is such valuable information in relation to staying student centered in your planning and delivery.

I see a differant group of students every 3 weeks. Using a survey at the end of the first week has become an invaluable tool. This allows me to make adjustments to help maybe 5 students that might otherwise struggle to understand or complete the course.

Leticia,
This type of feedback is how you improve your course delivery and develop meaningful activities. I think feedback needs to be secured throughout the course so you get a more global picture of how the course is going through the eyes of students.

I love student feed back either in person by a student or by a student survey. I have questions on what they liked about the course their dislikes. Also what are things they would change, add or remove from the course. I believe it makes the students feel like they are helping not only themselves but future classes.

Margaret,
Right you are about the value of student feedback. Checking for understanding is critical in teaching and through student feedback you can quickly learn if you are being effective in your delivery efforts.

Student feedback really enables you to check if students really grasped what you were trying to convey. It opens professional communication channels verbally or in writing and can give students extra practice in those areas.

Michael,
This is a great feedback tool for both you and your students. They get to recall what they have learned so they review in their minds what has been covered to find that one thing while you are learning what they did or did not learn so you can plan your instructional strategies for the next week. This is a win win for everyone.
