It will also show them what is expected of them. How to prepare for the class and to know what to study.

It provides students with an idea of what is expected in order to fulfill the class requirements and to be able to turn in assignments that are of high quality. It also increases the sdtudent "comfort level" in completing challenging assignments.

Showing examples of the work they will be doing is important because it gives them an idea of what will be expected of them. It also gives them time to address any anxieties that may be caused an upcoming topic. If the student brings forward those issues beforehand, it is less likely to be a problem later.

I think one of the main reasons showing examples of student work is to answer the unknowns for the students. All students want to know what is expected. The fear of the unknown is hard to overcome. By showing the students exactly the level and quality is expected shows them what to strive for to succeed in the class. I usually show examples of A+ work to set the bar high.

Hi Afua,
Students have a better idea as to what is expected of them after being shown what is expected. An example really gives students something to go by.

Hi Monique,
I concur! Students get motivated and excited when they see a visual as to what is expected of them. The visual lets them know that they assignment is doable.

Hi Shirley,
As instructors we should do all we can to eliminate the fear for students. It is human nature to be nervous of the unknown. We do our students great justice by sharing an example. The example gives them motivation and eases their fear. Students need to believe. We help them believe by sharing examples.

Hello Ms. Scale,

Showing examples of students work well aid in how specific and precise of how their course work should be presented.

In my case, I believe it gets the students motivated and excited to see what they will be doing. It can start the creative process and get them thinking about how their work could be better.

I think one reason that It's good to show students examples of the work product that you expect of them is becasue it help ease the fear of the unknown. Studnets are unsure, don't know your expectations of the class and work, and by showing them the work product and what yo expect from them for the class will help them understand how to do the work.

It will allow them to have a better understanding of the class, the work, and your expectations.

Hi Gary,
Yes, visual adds great clarity! Students seem to have a better understanding if they can see it.

Language and visualization difficulties can make the student confused during the explanation. Many people respond well to seeing an example.

Hi Kerry,
Examples also let students know that this can be done. Students have a better understand if they can see a visual of what is expected of them.

Patricia Scales

It helps them to know what is ahead of them

Hi Tiffany,
Seeing is believing! Students get it when they can see it.

Patricia Scales

It allows them to see what you expect out of them.

some students are visual learners.. it would be good for them

Hi Donna,
You have it! Our goal is to set our students up for success. Visual adds better understanding.

Patricia Scales

It clarifies what is required. It introduces the student to a visual or auditory example of the learning. Students in a new course, may not know the instructor or school yet. This is a nice way to set the student up to succeed.

Hi Allen,
Wow, I love it! You go to great lengths to show your students exactly what is expected of them. Your students should really appreciate you going above and beyond.
