It's important to interact with students because it let's them know that you're accessible, interested in what they have to say and that you care about them. Sometimes it's just a kind word or how you say good morning or good afternoon that makes a student feel important and that what they have decided to do in their life career wise means something.
To make them feel involved in the learning process and to let them know that their voice or opinion matters just as much as anyone else in the class.
You must interact with all students to make everyone feel involved and part of the class. You never want to have the students think you are favoring a select few, so you also must make sure to give equal attention to everyone.
Hi Tammy,
Super ways for interacting with students. I always speak to those individually as they enter the room, and right on the hour of class I greet the entire class cheerfully.
Patricia
Proper interaction ensures that you are establishing a rapport with your student and keeping that all important line of communication open. It shows the student that you are part of a team which is working towards their academic and future career success.

Each student needs to feel included. I make sure that I have eye contact and greet each one as they walk into my class. Hopefully this will set the tone that I am glad they are in class. I also start with an off subject question to get each student to speak at least once during class.
know thw students ny their names. and addresss every student during lecture to make them feel noticed.give them short topics to speak with thier ingenuity appreciating their opinions.
encourage thenm to be a team platyers bty putting them in groups and changing groups
to enable interaction between every one.
encourage class get togethers by allowing them to be creative and have programs which promote interactions and appreciation.
It is important to have interaction with every student so that you understand if every students is learning from the classroom. If you don't interact, you may have the silent students that's not getting it but is too shy to speak up. Interacting with all students enables the shy students and the not so shy students, verify to you and themselves they understand what is being discussed. It can really add self confidence when they get the "aha" moment and everything clicks.
Keep the door open for the students. If they have any problem, students feel free to talk to the instructor without any fear. This will help in increasing effficiency and effectiveness of class room performance.
Hi Richele,
Every student matters in the classroom, and they should get that feeling from the instructor. Our students are our most important customer.
Patricia
The instructor has a responsibility to all the students in the class, they need to feel welcome, valued, and important to the group. I think learning the names of students and recognizing them them lets them know you know who they are as an individual.
With a small amount of students in my clinical nursing course it is essential to interact with all of my students. I try to be empathetic with what they are experiencing in our accelerated nursing course while at the same time encouraging them to learn and grow.
I believe every student has the right and needs a good instructor who has time for them. I make myself available after class and let them know they are all welcome to speak with me. Sometimes all they need is a little support. For some students this is all the support they may be getting, and is the only thing keeping them going.
I totally agree with you Keith. As a clinical coordinator I do not see my students on a weekly basis. When I am at the school and encounter a student in the hallway, I always make a point not only to say hi, ask how their classes/clinical is coming along, but to relate to their interests that they have shared. It may be about what book they are currently reading, sports, their pets, etc. I believe that it shows the students that we not only listen to them, but we care about them individually.
It is important to have interaction with each and every student so you can better help them achieve their goals. Students are coming to class for specific reasons, but yet not each is the same, so to better understand your students the only really thing to do is get to know them. Interact see what motivates them, take an interst in what they are desiring to get out of the course
I think it is important to make the students feel like they belong. They need to feel that they are involved in the class. I like to speak to each student and get to know them.
it makes them feel as though they are part of the class and not just taking the class.
Interacting with each student gives you a sense of who they are and you can then gauge what is the best course of action in teaching them.
I like to have my students feel that they are more than just a student. They are a person who has life issues etc., I am always checking in with them just before class to see how they are dealing with life.
Interaction with every student is critical to the overall success of your classroom, but even moreso to the individual student. It is amazing how even something as simple as eye contact with a person can empower them to be engaged in a discussion. Interaction also empoweres a student to speak when otherwise they might not have.
