Have set rules and guideline and follow them. Make sure they understand them also, but also let them talk about issues to you is also critical. Treat them kindly will go a long way.

Resolving the many issues that can lead to attrition is essential.  Learning about each students communication style can help the instructor pin point potential problems right out of the gate.  Helping all students to understand the expectations and following through with maintaining those boundaries creates more space for learning.

Many of these topics relate as well to face-to-face classes. The human element is a huge factor in all classes.

Efficient online classroom management is critical for the success of an online, async, environment. It is important that students feel validated and that there is equal room for learning and growth. What I found to be interesting was the section on disruptive learners; thankfully, I've never experienced this but it is good to know what resources and methods there are to mitigate this risk.

It is critical to harness the unique behavioral qualities and advantages that each student brings to a course in support of collective learning outcomes.  This suggests that different students should receive a different style of engagement and play a unique role in the learning experience.

Record keeping will be a big part of the online class.  Document everything, just as in the traditional classroom.  Being new to the online environment, I was surprised that students may try to commandeer the class or be rude and aggressive in their posts.  I need to study my district's online policy before beginning any online courses.

I learned that it is very important to be organized and have a system for keeping up with student assignments, discussions, etc.

It is also important to be aware of the differnt types of learners and how to effectively handle each one.

I learned about the various types of students who will become difficult in the online classroom setting and how to best help them learn and not disrupt other students.

I learned that communication is imperative to provide an e learning enivornment for the student.  Feed back  and counseling if needed is are necessary to make a student successful.

There will be some students who may have obstacles or challenges when taking an online course.  This module is about the different problems students could face while taking classes online and how we can help smooth these challenges.  I agree excessive assignments or giving students too much can be a problem.  I also believe in keeping the students on top of things and helping them not to procrastinate.

It's important to be organzied with the files and communications with others. Follow the polices and procedures.

This section I learned information on how and when to address different types of students. I also learned about information about strategies to use when dealing with difficult students, professionally and fairly.

Personalities come through in online learning, just as they do in the classroom. It is important to develop strategies for keeping all participants on task and moving towards completion.

In Managing the e-learning environment it was interesting to see the titles for the different types of learners based on their behaviors. The Noisy, Quiet, Proscratinator, Disruptive and Intimidator behaviors are seen in the face to face classes too which the module said in the beginning how the traditional classroom behaviors can be seen online too.

Good solutions for each.

There are also discipline issues and different kinds of students online.  The hardest for me is the interrupter the student who spouts his many different things to get us off-topic.

Keep records of communication with students is vital for the success of the program.

Just as in an inperson class there are different types of students in the online courses. Students that are disruptive or cause problems need to be dealt with by referring them to course guidelines and policies.

I learned the importance of keeping and organizing reords. Keeping a folder on each students will assist in monitoring each student's progress in the course and setting up an assignment folder will help monitor class flow.

I also learn why some students have lost interest in the course and know I know ways I can assist those students to reduce course attrition.

Each student has different needs and issues which must be appropriately addressed.

behaviors online are very similar to those in a class
