Phylosopher Aristoles once said; "I know that I know but is better to know that I do not know nothing."
I need to review the one that I had previously start, for example i need to add the organizational chart i think is a great tool, it helps you understand who is better to assist you depending on your needs. Most importantly updates in Rules and Regualtions for FCIE is a must it will assures that your institution is always in compliance.
Some terms and definitions used during the admissions process are:
Registration: this happens after the student fills out their application through our Enrollment Compliance Officer.
Enrollment Compliance Officer: the individual responsible for helping the student fill out their paperwork and making sure they understand the rules and regulations accordingly.
Investment Overview: the process where the student initially meets with the financial aid department to get and "overview" of what their financial aid would look like.
Career placement department: department that assists our students in finding employment.
Student Services: department available for various resources including tutoring services, community resources such as day care facilities, and ability to benefit advising.
Education Department: department equipped with a Director as well as education assistants to assist with schedules, books, supplies, uniforms, transcripts, etc.
Hands on training: the type of training the students receive involving labs, equipment, and industry related tools that they will experience in the actual field.
I start a resouce notebook withouth knowing that was a must have tool when you work in admissions. There is so much information that I have but did not tought about adding it. This idea is brilliant. I also think that this will be a great tool for the institution receptionist this way they will always be accurate with the information and they will be able to a better call screening. Honestly they are the first voice of a company.
i have placed all the training materials in my notebook including the pdf.s
At my institution what are commonly used are enrollment agreement, Accreditation, Program, enrollement. It helps while talking to the prospect.
Here are some of the basic steps for the enrollment process at my institution, including terms and definitions:
Campus Visit - during our interview process, if we have determined that a student has adequate qualifications and interest in our program, we invite them to come in and visit our campus.
Program - during their visit, the student is provided more details on their program of interest, touring labs where they would be working and also having the change to ask more detailed questions about the program.
Title IV - during their visit, the student will usually meet with someone from our finance department to discuss options for funding their education, including federal student assistance.
Enrollment Application - During their visit, as the student continues to show interest and desire to move forward we invite them to complete an Enrollment Application.
Tuition Deposit - as part of the application process we require the student to submit a small deposit via cash, check or credit card.
Enrollment Agreement - one of the final steps in completing enrollment is for the student and their admissions advisor to both sign an enrollment agreement, which is a legally binding document for both parties.
Enrollment agreement; this is used with every person who gets to the enrollment step. It is legally binding and both parties need to be in full understanding of what it states.
I really like this because it is so important that the prospective student understands and is comfortable with not only the education that they will be receiving but also what their financial obligations are going to be. You never want to just assume that the prospective student understand. Most of the time it will be that prospective students first time experiences these things.
The idea is so simple its briliant. I now have a tool that I can use to effectively change the lives of my clients. It make is a powerful tool I'm proud to say will be a part of the admissions process.
Need to go to the CIE Website every week to read the news
In my Resource Notebook I added the Terms and Definitions and the Florida Administrative Code Commision Rules. I think these are very important. I know I will definately use these.
I have to agree, There were certain thing I didn't know what is really important. So the resource is great! If i don't remember something I know I can always go back to it.
I am also new in this field, I have a Question, with reference to the Institution Catalog, it has a specific order to follow?
It is complicated when, in my case, I have international student, is difficult for me verify diplomas
Some of the terms I hear a lot are sacrifices, career services, job placement, accreditation, tuition, diploma, and requirements. I understand it is important that as an admissions rep we elaborate on all of this to the students.
I have started making my notebook now. This is increasingly helpful to someone who is a newer admissions representative. I will also be putting employee biographies in mine so that I will be informed about each of the players. I also think the terms have been very beneficial, it is important to know the full meaning of these words when you hear them so often.
Trisha,
If the high school is a nonpublic institution, it is very important for your admissions review to investigate thoroughly. Unfortunately, there are many diploma mills out there even at the high school level. Check them out thoroughly!
Jeffrey,
Passion is not one we hear everyday and is so important. Thank you for adding it to the post.
Gustavo,
Dealing with specialty admissions brings new terminology to the table. Knowing the terminology is important to getting the right message across.
