Paola,
Great post! Thank you for bringing new terms to the forum.

The Resource Notebook is a valuable tool, which includes intense information about the school. This is helpful in answering prospective students questions about the school. We have a notebook, but this course has helped in making sure we include everything that is needed. We have the institution enrollment agreement, policies and procedures, an organizational chart. We are going to add information about marketing and advertising.

I have complied the critical and current information such as Florida Statutes, promotional materials and rules and publications to start. We are kept informed of current rules and regulations; therefore I was aware of the changes.

While going thru the admissions process at my institute we use several different terms and definitions to inform our prospects fully on our institute and proper procedures. We go over several different areas and assure our propects understand what was just explained to them. We go over the Enrollment Agreement so all prospects are fully aware of the document they have with them. We also use words such as institution and program and Title IV when explaining other areas of our admissions process.

*Some common terms*
Enrollment agreement:This is the binding agreement between the school and the student
Start Date: This is the first day of class (the day they change their life)
Block Schedule: Class times and days
Cost per credit hour: This is a break downn of the tuiton cost so they fully understand the cost
Dioploma: This is usually associated with short term programs that lead to a certification
Degree:This is what a student will receive when the complete and pass all the required course work. Can be an associate, Bachelor and Masters
Accreditation:This is the ruling body. These are our standards

Some of the terms that I use with prospective students at my campus are:

Accreditation - an agency that approves member schools who meet strict requirements in all areas of operation. Without accreditation Title IV funds could not be distributed to students.

Enrollment - A process where a student enters a program with a certain tuition cost and expects a certain level of education in return.

Program - A sequential class structure designed to give the student the best path to a degree.

We have organizational flow charts which we also have in our policy procedure book and placed in our resource notebook which is an easy to follow quick reference definitively defining superiority and organizational relationships.
This course was very informative in many ways. I am new to education (in the didactic arena) and I never knew all of the FL statutes rules & regs guiding education. It was very helpful to that you attached the links so we could add them in our notebook ( which I didn't know they all had to be in there).
I didn't know about the signed enrollment agreement process and importance of it.

All teh information that was given was clear to understand and will be useful to my job task

the statutes, rules and regulations thus far. I have discovered that our enrollment contract may need a little face lift, a few things that should be on it, could be clearer. Didn't know that catalog and enrollment contract wording should be one in the same. I believe it is, but didn't know it had to be.

I have got my Resource Notebook set up so that I have tabs designating each module of the course. I have a section for Terms and Definitions and a section where I have a copy of the updated Commission Rules. The Notebook also contains copies of our school catalog and enrollment agreement.

I have just begun creating my own Resource Notebook. I am excited to have updated information regarding the admissions process, as it will help our institution grow and provide the best quality possible for our students.

I have placed the org charts, course information, as well as accredidation and licensing info in my notebook. I have discovered that is it very important to keep abreast of marketing efforts. It is very valuable to have this "go-to" tool.

I have place everything that i am able to print. What i have noticed is that we have a lot of staff that is very knowledgeable with the rules adn being keep up with all updates. But when it come time to put your hands on why or what the rules states specificly you cant get the answer. I like to know exactly what the statues state and make sure the rule is being followed exactly.

Since i am just taking over as director of financial aid and our school is going through accreditation. I have found that no resourch book are available and i have had to put everthing together. just make me wonder and see why the school has been in such a disaray over ther past 10 years? HOw do you put new changes into place such as a resourch book when everyone is use to doing thins the old way and not so interested in the correct way?

The Resource Notebook is an absolute necessity. This course gives concise information about how to set the Notebook up. Once done and updated regularly, the Resource Notebook is an indispensable tool for the institution. It becomes a Standard Operating Procedures Manual for the institution.

I have printed everything that was printable up tp the point I am at to put in my notebook. I learned that nonrefundable fees regarding admissions and registration shall not exceed $150.

You can visit the CIE website for updates explanations and any changes. Changes can happen at any time.

A course catalog should be given to all students that are enrolled in FTC.
