Well the student is told whether or not we are a profit or non-profit school. They are told about class schedules. The student is also told what semester they will be entering in like Fall or Spring.
I have updated my book with my schools policies and procedures as well as a chart with all school chairs and their teachers along with what each is teaching.

Our institution is quite small and offers 1 program only. The enrollees consist primarily of homeless individuals, some with a mental illness or a substance abuse addiction (not exclusive of anyone else, of course). As a social service agency, our mission is to foster self-sufficiency through a trade (requirement is to have a HS diploma or GED). No entrance examination. Having different levels of education and various ethnicities (South Florida) with English as a secondary language, presents a real challenge even during the admission process. While we use simple terms and definitions regarding Florida school Rules and Statutes, we tend to be overly explicit, understanding, patient and, by that process, quite informal. We spent a good amount of time explaining Fair Consumer Practices and HIPPA laws and redirecting the potential student since the reason for attending the program and the vision (believe us or not) may not be so clearly defined. This module warns not to perceive the admission representative as a counnselor. In our institution, we have learned to fill many shoes depending on the receiving hand. That also helps with retention as the school, in many instances, might become part of the extended family.

The definition of Program is used in the admissions process. I am glad there was finally a formal defnition of the word program. I use the word Program a lot and in some cases I wondered if I was using it properly. For example, I referred to a single course as a program. However, this single course does lead to a certificate. So I am pleaased I used it correctly.
