Russ,
You are a veteran then of the industry. Keep up the good work of compliance.
Patty Aronoff
Maxine,
Excellent suggestion. Make sure to train staff on any changes or additions to the notebook to ensure everyone is aware of updates.
Patty Aronoff
Adrian,
You are off to a great start. Add your catalog, any addenda or supplements as you build your notebook.
Patty Aronoff
John,
Excellent! You have now related a one stop reference point for your compliance documentation.
Patty Aronoff
Anthony,
Yes, the training became part of rule last year. You have discovered the difference between an agent and an admissions representative.
Patty Aronoff
Rana,
When going over the rules, try looking at the school documents along with your reading. You will find references in Fair Consumer Practices to the enrollment agreement, catalog, and advertising.
Patty Aronoff
Doria,
Terminology is very important. It is essential that we use the correct terms in the right context. Otherwise, we have mislead others.
Patty Aronoff
Antwan,
You are off to a great start! Continue to add additional documents to build your resources. Try adding career information, frequently asked questions, and ask your faculty to give you talking points.
Patty Aronoff
Doria,
Depends on how the information is used. They are resources for future enrollments, e.g. PDLs. They are a marketing tool to help you in your development.
Patty Aronoff
Bob,
When creating new forms, make sure to submit changes to the program specialist at the Commission. Forms like enrollment agreement and catalog must be approved by the Commission before implementation.
Patty Aronoff
Brigette,
Excellent! Thank you for adding your terms to the forum. As you can see, most schools use the same terms in their process.
Patty Aronoff
Luis,
Career services plays such an important role in your student's academic experience. Get career services Involved from day one to work together on placing that student. Their success is your success.
Patty Aronoff
Maxine,
Accreditation must be held by the school before it can apply for financial aid. Schools seeking accreditation should make sure that the USDOE recognizes the accrediting body.
Patty Aronoff
Paryn,
Your institution has clinical sites and rotations which often require background checks. Your admissions interview should have a discussion that outlines the background check process, what it includes and who bears the cost.
Patty Aronoff
Rana,
Congratulations! You will need to add the rules and laws that govern your school by the Florida Board of Nursing to your resource notebook. Additionally you will want to add the regulations of your accrediting body, COE.
Patty Aronoff
Christopher,
Excellent post! You have accurately given the terms and have provided the definitions as well.
Patty Aronoff
Rana,
Thank you for adding your definitions to the forum. As you can see, we have common terms used by institutions in our sector.
Patty Aronoff
Russ,
Interesting...the faculty are there from the beginning. What happens if they question the viability of a student? Are the admission requirements concrete or are they partially subjective in nature?
Patty Aronoff
We are currently using two large forms "Application" and "Catalog" that contain everything applicable to the applicant and accepted student. We've come to realize that the forms are not only cumbersome, but contain in-house information and guidance that need not be in the forms submitted to the State.
We're in the process of breaking them down into "Admission Requirements", "Enrollment Agreement", "Catalog", and "Rules & Regulations".
We have just about everything in our school "Bible". We call the Bible, because it contains just about every form we use, every policy and everything needed in our school.
