Aeisha,
The best way to learn about your programs us to get involved. Sit in on classes to have an idea of what goes on with the instructors and the students. Try conversations with the faculty as they are always willing to talk about what they love.

Dana,
Representative training is a worthwhile investment. Many schools do not allow their representatives to work with students until they have been fully trained. That is a very common and best practice.

Suzanne,
Small schools have a wonderful community within their walls. It's an opportunity to really know your students and your institution.

Considering my length of employment with the university I would rate it very high. I spend a lot of time discussing new programs and any relevant changes.
I'm definitely still learning but I've become familiar with the programs by attending Student Orientation and 1 on 1 sessions with all the various departments, asking a lot of questions. It's been very informative!
The one area I'm not as familiar with is Financial Aid. We have really helpful Financial Aid Reps so I will be asking them a lot of questions in the future I'm sure.
I don't know as much I would like to due to the fact that I am new at the institution. However,I am aware that it has marketing system in place and utilize radio station as a form of advertisement.
I have been a representative since 2002 at various institutions having different products therefore it is super important to know your product knowledge. It is also important to occasionally review your institution's products expecially when you have been on board for a while as well as new products that may come into play.
I'm fairly new here but I would say that it is good, not great.
As the direct contact with prospective students, it is vital to have full knowledge of the program. As someone who previously attended the same type of program I'm now involved with, I can offer first-hand experience when corresponding with prospective students.
I would say I know 99% about my institution. It is a very small staff, and not many different departments. I really like how each of us know exactly what everyone on staff is responsible for, and we can all learn from each other. The real discovery is how everything works with rules, regulations, and statutes.
I have the advantage of being an alumnus of my school and well as having taken continuing education courses there. Also, having been an alumni club leader for over ten years gave me constant exposure to new developments at my school.
I have learned that my institution is very strict about abiding rules and regulations. That all training modules are the same model for all of their institutes in the country, so all of the staff nationwide is on the same page. I have been provided with enough information thru this training from each dept head to be able to speak knowledgably about their services to a prospective student.
I have learned that my institution always follow the rule and regulations of the FAPSC as well as the additional government regulated polices and procedures that are enforced. Additionally, I have learned that all employee's of ITT Tech has the responsibility to follow the rule of the institution thoroughly and accurately.
I am new to this institution so i made sure to be on their website 24/7 and read as much as possible about programs and everything else to the point that everything come naturally now
But you definitely have a learning curve you know? improving day by day
I would like to think I am pretty knowledgable about my institution. I know what prgrams we offer, the number of credit hours they are, amongst other things. However, I also know there are still things I do not know and need to find out. I believe in being the best at whatever I do and in order to do that here there is still lots of information to find out.
I have not been here long, but it appears to me that my campus has a great system of rep training to ensure both compliance and product knowledge in order to help prospective students have the info they need to make their education decision.
I am comfortable with the knowledge I have about the institution. We are a small school and I have been with the institution since inception, 13 years ago.
Barbara,
There'll always be something new to learn. That is the joy of working in the industry that we do. As you continue on you will learn more and more about the programs your school offers.

I would say I know a great deal about my institution. We offer Associate Degree and Diploma Programs as well as constant aid and support for our students in all the different departments, even after graduating. Considering I have only been employed here for less than 3 months, everyone has been very friendly and knowledgeable about their department and willing to share the knowledge they have with me. I learned a lot during training on how to effectively work in admissions, but I have learned so much more since then just by going on tours and meeting people in the lunch room and talking to them about the programs that we offer.
Dorothy,
Career services is an important part of the student experience. They provide guidance and preparation for that job of their dreams.
