Our institution is small and I helped write the catalog, so I feel I have a good knowledge of the institution. I have worked with the teachers and know their personalities and expertise. However, I love the idea of sitting in on classes to explain them to the prospective students. It would give a much better perspective to them rather than just going over the course topics.
While I understand the institution and policies, I do not have a good knowledge of our course topics.
I have made it a point to learn as much as I can about other departments and how it relates to my role at the school.
it was a strong learning curve but I know more now about financial aid available to students, as well as policies on students that want to withdraw or further their education.
as I held several positions within the institution I have a fairly broad knowledge of the same, plus they always try to update me on new courses or programs offered
Since I am building my institution from the "ground-up", I know it quite well! However, as it progresses, it gains a "personality" of its own...driven by its administration, its instructors and its students. One cannot "sit on their laurels" and believe that it will stay "status quo." The dynamics of an organization and the market creates an ever-changing arena...one in which everyone must be aware of to ensure compliance and adaptation to students' needs.
Catherine,
That is what is so exciting about our sector!

I'm new at my institution, so I've been learning a great deal over the past several weeks. I find that I learn something new every day!
Veronica,
Every student is different and every situation poses new challenges. We must always remember that.
Patty Aronoff
Erin,
Congratulations on your appointment! You are joining a great industry with so much potential for our students.

I have been in my institution for 3 days now, and I am learning a lot! I have learned about some of the different programs with meetings with the head of each department. They are answering all of our questions and telling us main information we need to know. I also have learned about our student services programs, career services, freshman studies and so fourth. This instution has a lot to offer students and graduates and I think that is really great!
We´ve direct contact with all the areas.
In our case we can ask questions directly with the person who is the responsible.
Everyday I discover new doubts of the students, but I always talk to the staff to resolve them.
Tyrenna ,
Congratulations! Share your knowledge and learn about the community in which your students will be placed.
Patty Aronoff

douglas,
Try quizzing each other. It is important that we know the true answer and even those we don't come across often.

Very unique, but needed. That is the exciting part about our sector in that we provide so many opportunities.
