We have Motorcycle, Marine and Automotive technician training programs. I ask for updates from Employment Services regarding jobs available pre and post graduation.
We offer a CNA prep course, and a HHA course. Each course has its own description and I plan to study each description and every detail about the class. I also plan to watch the class and speak to the professor about the unique aspects of the courses.
It's important to know all programs offered to be able to pass it along o the prospective sutdent.
It's important that you're knowlegable regarding all the progams ofered to properly pass along information to the prospective student.
We concentrate strictly on nursing. We offer an LPN, LPN-to-RN Bridge and an RN program. Ihave been with my organozation for a very long time and am familiar with each program. Some of these have been added during my e,ployment so it's important that I understand what each offers and what is required. I get any additional information needed and add it to the current information that I have.
We offer only one program at our institution. It is a comprehensive broadcasting programs that includes training for 40 different positions. The most effective way to learn about jobs students are trained for is by speaking with our career services director, but also sitting in on classes and speaking with our education director.

Even though I'm an Admissions Adviser for our Marine program, I know the other programs my school offers. In certain situations, some students are not quite sure of the programs they want to attend so it is important I stay up to date with our other programs.
My school is uniquely targeted to a single program - marine mechanics. This allows me to become thoroughly familiar w/ all the classes involved and the various career tracks our grads typically follow.
angela,
Also check out the Career Services Department which works very hard in placing your students.

tony,
The catalog is part of the contract between the student and the school. The terms and policies must be fully explained and understood.

susan,
Interesting approach on admissions. Do you find that this is an awkward transition when stopping and handing them over to another rep?
Patty Aronoff
Tracy,
Career Services can be a bountiful resource for information on careers and job focus. The best practice for many schools is to incorporate this department in every aspect of the student experience.

Not only have I been able to work directly with the employers to get to know what they are looking for in a trained Motorcycle Tech, I also talk with my instructors and read up on changes in the industry. A good source would be PowerSports Business. www.powersportsbusiness.com
